ABOUT ME

I was raised as an only child on a dairy farm. I became a private pilot as I always wanted to see what was over the horizon. Fair weather flying & dairying do not mix well as I had to make hay when the sun shines & fuel for the plane is expensive especially on a dairy farmer's income. Having 5 children put me out of flying for sure. A fellow knocked on our door 1 day looking for work on a farm & stayed for 2 years. It opened possibilities for travel having him help us. I was able to visit 5 European countries. I have since visitied Brazil, Mexico, Vietnam, China, Cuba, Sweden, Japan & Haiti.
I have come to respect the people of all these lands as they are all doing their best with what the Earth provides them as a resource.

PHILOSOPHY

Smile you look much prettier that way. We are only here for a short time & need to make use of each day to show our love of God, neighbor & fellow man. I am a minimalist aiming to do as much as I can with minimal use of energy, resources & money to get the desired outcome.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not done any couch surfing myself. I am willing to host fellow travelers interested in my area. I have over the years hosted the above mentioned fellow and several others who happened by. I have a friend who came to the EAA in Oshkosh & stayed with us as I had room available for he & his son. He offered me a Christmas visit to his hacienda in Brazil which I was unable to take advantage of do to my mom being very ill at the time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met several interesting people who stopped by looking for agricultural experience over the years. One taught me how easy it is to make yogert. We have also hosted foreign exchange students from Germany, Spain & teachers from Japan. We have been able to visit Japan & stay at the home of these people for a wonderful enlightening experience.

Intereses

I drive a Myers Motors NmG PEV (personal electric vehicle). I was among the 1st to put up a wind powered generator on my farm in 1980. I enjoy helping people learn about the possibilities of improving their education & life experience.
