About Me
(I just realized my profile may be difficult to understand for some people who have less skill in English. So sorry!!! I'm a writer and so I tend to get excited and speak in a complicated fashion. If anything is confusing, just send me a message and ask :) )
Otherwise...
ABOUT ME
Has digeridoo. Will travel.
:) Ok. So usually I try to write up profiles with a bit more glib/flash but it's probably better to veer towards straight playing it when petitioning people to let you into their living space. So I'll do that. :) If you want a glance at me when I'm "on" though, I'll drop my other social media tags down at the bottom of this box:
Essentials:
I laugh
I dance
I climb things with little to no provocation
Ha. I've been through a lot of different stages over the last couple of years. I originally came to China back in 08 and spent a year on a kung-fu quest. Then back in the US I plotted a military course ( former Shaolin Monk make for great party stories but doesn't do you much good on job applications) up until my knees broke down and so I went back to college at 24. [Insert cliche about life being what happens while you're making other plans]. So! All these years later I find myself back in China as a language student with plans for an MFA in fiction writing awaiting me back in the US unless I blow that off to become a noodle stand vendor right here in China.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
:) Because it helps to pacify my FOMO (Fear of missing out)
Traveling has often been a cathartic experience for me. I'm often overwhelmed by the raw number of possibilities in a new city/place. Left to my own devices, I get trapped in this in-bending mental spiral where I become acutely aware of the number of possibilities (sights/sound/experiences) I'm bound to miss out on in this place I'm only staying in for a short time and the weight of this realization eventually crushes my adventuring spirit and the next thing you know, I decide that it's not worth the strain to make hard decisions and now I'm ordering hostel food in pajamas with a book in hand.
:) [An exaggeration, but you get the gist]
To be direct -- I'm more interested in meeting people than get photo-ops at "destinations." Sights and pictures are dandy for the scrap books, but I get more out of meeting people than I dragging myself past tollbooths to some new scenic site.
To be even directlier-- I'm on couch surfing because you're a person. And you're interesting. And we should totally hang out sometimes.
Interests
(Update) I wrote the list below a couple of years back, but I endured some physical injuries in the meantime. Most of it still applies, though I move a lot less heavy stuff around in modern day. :)
More recently, I'm a fiction/ Creative Non-Fiction college student.
I read a tremendous lot. (David Foster Wallace, Dostoyevsky, Donald Barthleme, Flannery O'Connor are bedside currently)

Teach, Learn, Share
Hmmmmm. Let's see. Things I'm somewhat qualified (If not licensed by any governing body) to teach.
I'm always thrilled to teach handstands, back flips and a few other gymnastics type feats to anyone interested.
I practice yoga and love getting the chance to teach/learn from other students.
I've also got a semi-decent grounding in mandarin Chinese and I'm always looking for someone to practice with *Warning* Language skills may be greatly exaggerated.
