About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning from others and hearing their life stories, tasting and seeing my way to as many places as possible.

ABOUT ME

Travel experiences have changed my life. Everywhere I live makes me want to see and live in more of the world.
Italy has allowed me to have the most intensive, cultural learning experience I ever could imagine.
I moved to Korea because I had that itch to see more. I
wanted to get out of Canada and teaching there seemed like an excellent way to go.
I am passionate about hunger and poverty issues and learning about and discussing global food systems.
I find all topics of food and nutrition fascinating and love learning about the diets and rituals of food from other cultures. I think that there are endless things to learn and experience in regards to food and wine.
I enjoy social drinking and like to take my time when visiting a new place.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to live a life I can be proud of. I want to live a life of purpose. I want to be inspired by others and in turn be inspiring to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed in Italy and Spain and had a great time! Hosted in Italy and Halifax a few times.

My ex-boyfriend and I had a permaculture project in south-east India. We usually hosted volunteers not couchsurfers.
Looking to host people who are passing through the Sydney area in Cape Breton now :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a 1500km bike trip across Ontario, Canada in 2012 and it was easily the best experience of my life. We were called the Phenomenal Food Tour and put on plays and workshops about environmental sustainability and social justice issues for schools and community groups. The people I met were amazing and the whole trip inspired me to be a more generous person. I saw the different landscapes of Southern Ontario, ate completely seasonally and locally, and felt a huge sense of accomplishment everyday.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about living in Korea and Korean food and have a good background in nutrition and health.

I want to learn more about global politics, economics and love to discuss the future of the world and how we can make changes for the better!

I'm into the connection between food-health-environment, educational & economical reform, and letting my views shift and evolve with every person that I connect with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of space to relax and unwind. We're near a creek where you can take the kayaks out for a paddle. There's also a lake nearby with a trail around it for walking or snowshoeing.
If you come in summer there is also a swimming pool. Pool table in the basement, somewhat manageable wifi, satellite tv, and a kitchen and BBQ for cooking if you're so inclined. Love learning new recipes from travellers!
We're pretty ideally situated outside of Sydney (about 10 mins to downtown) and 10 mins to the NFLD ferry.
