About Me

My name is Melissa Gussenhoven, 20 years and new in the world as an independent traveller. I'm from the Netherlands, but I prefer to live in Spain at the moment. I grew up surrounded by nature and a lot of nature caring people, and so do I too. I just finished my study as a graphic designer. I'm learning Spanish and like to learn more and more. I'm open minded, adventures and like to say yes to things. Besides my good characteristics; I'm not a sporty type, I cycle a lot (I'm Dutch) and I love to sail, but you will never find me in the gym. Cooking is not my greatest skill, but I can and apple pies are my favourites!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to experience new things and meet new people. I'm interested and curious to other people and things in life Couchsurfing seems to be an perfect way to esteem my curiosity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to listen to hiphop and rnb, but I'm also a huge lover of The Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys. I don't watch a lot of movies, because I'm always falling asleep. But I do watch series on Netflix (sometimes). I love the books of Khaled Hoseini, to read about other cultures. Also there are some old Dutch writes like Theo Thijssen which I love. These books are written in 'old Dutch' and because of that beautiful to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to see a friend in Spain and she asked me the day I arrived if we could hitchhike when I was visiting her and I said yes. So a few days later we went, without any preperations to Portugal. It took us 9 cars to arrive in Portugal and it was an amazing experience to meet so many people and to get so many help from strange people. It should be on the to-do list of everyone.

Teach, Learn, Share

I learn Spanish and can help people with their English (or Dutch if they want to).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a lot about my own country and about my vision of life. My skills as a graphic designer and what I've learned. But most of all I'll share my curiosity and love to hear your story.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Switzerland
