CURRENT MISSION Save the world with my work in the nonprofit world, brew great beer (sours!), and remind y'all that "All ya need is love!" ABOUT ME I would very much like to host people from: - Palestine - India - Ireland - Sri Lanka ....if that's you SEND ME A REQUEST! Now the important stuff.... - I've got over 100 references. Check'em out, and come surf with me! :) - I'd had over 200 references & Friends and WAS verified, but when Couchsuring declared itself as 'for profit' instead of non profit', I guess they stopped verifying? If you want to verify me, google 'Mike Kamer Nonprofit" and I promise, plenty will come up. - I was also the City Ambassador for Long Beach, but once CS went for profit I stepped down in protest. :( I miss the 'Public Benefit' days of CS, but still love the community! -Grew Up In Vegas -Spent 5 years running a Vegas Club's Promotions Teams -Graduated w/ BA in Philosophy from UNLV -Sold Wine for 3 years -Moved to Paso Robles, made wine for a year -Moved to Long Beach -WAS a HUGE wine geek. -Discovered craft beer. -AM a huge Beer Nerd & a homebrewer -Want to make the world a better place. -First years in the nonprofit sector were spent working at a domestic violence prevention agency and at-risk students through a small YMCA branch in Orange county - I now serve as Executive Director for a nonprofit in Vegas where each year we help over 16,000 K-12 students by removing barriers to their happiness and success in life... It's kind of great! Want more? Surf with me or host me and we'll chat! PHILOSOPHY Get me a bottle of wine, absinthe, or craft beer and I can go on this for hours....

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING In 2026? I'm hosting in Vegas! After 10 years of renting and being inactive, I have my own place just minutes from The Arts District. I've got 5 bikes, a full bed in my office that fits two, and a couch that fits one (but the floor is an option too). I'm happy to have guests, but I still plan on hosting like it's 2010. That means if you're coming here just to go gambling or clubbing on the strip, don't plan on crashing here. If you want to explore the local cutlure, do a bit of bar hopping in non-touristy areas, and make memories that'll last a lifetime though? Well then, hit me up. Old 2015 and earlier info (but it's all still relevant) -I started with a trip to Europe. -I spent all 30 days being hosted by kind people. -I returned to the US intending to payback that Karma -I was at a point where I was hosting an average of 50+ people a year -I have over 100 references. Read them. They'll tell you lots about how I host/surf. -If I ever make enough money to afford a plane ticket, I will be happy to surf again. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE Early Experience :: I used to be a nightclub promoter in Las Vegas, and often found myself playing host to clients whom wanted to extend their weekends - clients that I had just met days or even hours earlier! I loved it and miss it a lot to be honest. It's not direct experience, but it's close enough that I think it helped make me so excited by the idea of couchsurfing. - I was a CS City Ambassador (a volunteer in the org that built CS communities) - I held a monthly themed party for CS hosts & vistiors (about 50 ea/month)! - Details of the events can be found here (if the link still works): http://www.couchsurfing.org/meetings.html?mid=55593
