ABOUT ME

I like to make presents for people. I could eat breakfast for every meal. I think duck-billed platypuses are funny. I sing silly songs about sandwiches.

PHILOSOPHY

When I grow-up I want to be a granny... a lady who embodies wisdom acquired by experience, who nurtures in her nature, and can cook a deliciously hearty meal.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Boone, NC, Carolina is a bit off the beaten path but is a great place to come visit. It is a beautiful town with a great folk community and if you want to try square dancing, molasses-making, or be in the mountains I would encourage you to come! My couches are plush & cozy and I thrive on being a hostess with the mostess.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I feel like I have surfed on couches for years. I am always trying to meet some local yokels when I travel so I frequently find friends-of-friends and knock on their doors. I have questions sometimes on how things work: systems of people in other places. I get a lot of nourishment from sharing meals and time with other people.

Interessen

I bind books, write, collect, doodle in them and give them away. I like to bake pies and decorate their crusts with prehistoric creatures. I find tiny knick-knacks to fill in the holes of the world. I enjoy talking to kids so I don't forget how interesting the world can be...
I am also looking to find a giant, shaggy dog... if you see him, I have a home to offer him. He can be my bestie.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Books... Check them Out... (this was the chorus to the music video I wanted to create in promoting my favorite place on planets: the library)

My favorite books to check out are by existentialists, Gabriel Garcia Marquez or about Magical Realism. I like anthologies of short stories, Michael Pollan, The Chronicles of Narnia & C.S. Lewis thoughts, Roald Dahl, Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss, & the graphic works of Craig Thompson.

I dance in my kitchen to: Cash and his lovely extended family the Carters, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show's Shel Silverstien tunes, I would travel to all the 50 states with Sufjan, David BOWIE, Erykah Badu, The Beatles & just John, Sam Bean's Iron and his Wine, Old-timey tunes with a fiddle, banjo, & washtub bass, Sebastians & Belles, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Nina Simone, Harry Nilsson, Nick Drake and Elliot Smith, The King of Pop - Mr. Michael & the 5, LOVE, Beck, Rockabilly, Ween, Talking Heads and the lovely man in the extremely large suit, The Doo Doo Wop of The Platters, Frankie Lymon, and Phil Spector's specialties.

Movies:Ahmelie, Lost in Translation, Hitchcock (Rope is my favorite). High Fidelity. I like to dance with David Byrne in The Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense" DVD. Duze Zwierze ("Big Animal"), a great Polish film about a camel or communism?. The Never Ending Sotry, Willow, and The Flight of the Navigator. And as emabressing as it is I like romantic comedies... they make me giddy.

I ate the best BBQ chicken after painting an elderly woman's house bright orange. I got tossed with my brothers down the Zambezi river. I thrived on the Chicken Bus system of Guatemala. I planted trees without shoes in the chinampas swamp gardens on a farm in Costa Rica. I like to think that I have helped little kidders grow...

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I love to make art with folks in whatever capacity is your art: theoretical mathematics, dancing in the kitchen, or inter-personal communication.

My art is how to make nothings out of somethings (it is magical, I know)... but frequently I will knit with tatters, make books from recycled paper, or fiddle until it is fixed/fashioned into something else.

I would love to work on my Spanish, explore different ways to cook, or learn the meaning of existence (or not...).
