About Me

I’m an avid traveler and curious adventurer who works in evaluation for a local nonprofit. Outside of work, I love exploring the city, meeting new people, and picking up new hobbies, sports, and languages along the way. I enjoy cooking and am always on the hunt for new recipes and cookbooks to try at home.

One of my goals for 2026 is to spend more time active and outdoors. I’ve recently gotten into birdwatching and would love to continue building toward more camping and hiking this year. I’m fluent in English and Spanish, and I always enjoy learning about new languages while continuing to improve the ones I already speak.

I’m also a big fan of arts and culture. I love history and seek out art exhibitions, film screenings, and live events, but I’m just as happy grabbing food or drinks with friends and having long conversations. I see socializing itself as a kind of art. The moments of connection and shared experience are the ones I value most and feel most proud of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am here to EXPLORE first and foremost. There are so many places and people to meet, and I have had the great experience of connecting with people from all across the world and different walks of life here on CS. There is nothing more human than connecting with other people, and CS has given me the opportunity to share so many precious and beautiful moments with so many lovely souls. I am here to continue to share and connect with anyone and everyone who I come across both in my travels and here at home.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m mainly into indie pop and alt-rock, though I’m always looking to expand my music taste. Lately, I’ve been especially drawn to Spanish indie pop. Some of my favorites include La Casa Azul, El Buen Hijo, Karavana, and Cariño. On the English-language side, I’ve been listening a lot to Lily Allen’s Alright, Still and Brat by Charli xcx. For me, a perfect afternoon is putting on music and relaxing in a park, or dancing around at home while everyone takes turns sharing their favorite songs and artists.

When it comes to film, I love indie cinema, A24 films in particular, but I’m just as happy with a well-done big-budget comedy, especially a good rom-com. I haven’t watched many movies recently, but I just finished the series Mariliendre and plan to watch La Mesías next.

Since I’ve just finished my PhD, I don’t read for pleasure as much as I’d like at the moment. I do like to keep up with the news, and this year I’m planning to read more about birds to support my newfound birdwatching habit. I’m also very open to book recommendations as I ease my way back into reading for fun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my proudest moments was running my first marathon with my mom when I was 17, and helping to pace her to a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon. I have sinced continued to run another 10 marathons with my most recent marathon being the Queens Marathon this past year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach fun, offbeat tidbits about the English language, not the dry grammar rules, but things like Gen Z internet slang, funny regional expressions, and how people actually speak day to day, especially here in New York. I’m always eager to learn, especially when it comes to languages, cultures, places, and cooking. I’m a curious, enthusiastic learner and love picking things up from the people I meet. I’m happy to share whatever I have—time, space, food, conversation, or company. I may not have much in a material sense, but I’m open, welcoming, and generous by nature. I believe sharing is one of the purest virtues, and I try to approach new connections with that spirit.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share an openness and enthusiasm for life with my hosts. I enjoy exchanging languages and conversations, and I’m always happy to share insights from my PhD research if it’s of interest. Over the past few years, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how communities support health and wellbeing, and how broader social and health inequalities shape people’s lives—topics I genuinely enjoy discussing.

Above all, I’m open, curious, and always happy to share experiences, time, and moments together.
