Retired traveler looking to explore many more places with my wife. Grew up as a military dependent, notably when my father was stationed in France and Germany with NATO forces. Worked most of my life in the Ottawa area in bilingual workplaces.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Mainly here to explore. We're hoping that this will significantly increase both our group of friends and the number of places we will be able to visit. If we're lucky it will also expand our knowledge of languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We have sailed the Grand Canal in Venice at night.
We have visited the Medina of Fez during the Eid Al-Adha.
But we also had dinner in Northern Ontario while being watched by a mother black bear and her three cubs, separated only by a window.

I am a foodie and I spend a great deal of time cooking. I would be happy to share food and all my recipes wherever we go.

I am a zymurgist. I enjoy learning about, understanding and exploring beer. I have won medals for my beers at Canadian competitions. I have the background to teach amateur beer making.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Avid photographer, I can share my perspective, my love of cooking (I can cook Cantonese, Italian, Tex-Mex, West Indian and classic French) and adventure, art history, architecture and my deep knowledge of useless trivia. I'm also a convivial golf partner, emerging skier and retired geek.
