About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Micha. I would describe myself as an expressive, open-minded person, who loves to design und plan his own projects and work together with other people to create synergies and better understanding for each other as human beings. I also love to organise parties and with that, create safe spaces for people to express their identities. Furthermore I am a masters student of cultural sciences and I love to nerd off about Science Fiction literature, electronic music and club culture as well as Philosophy!

PHILOSOPHY

I want to really get to know new people and for that to happen, I always want to create a space, where people can feel safe and talk about everything. The more we try to understand other people without judging, the more we will understand, on an emotional level, that nothing is black and white., when we can overcome this thinking in binary oppositions as a society, only then, will we be able to build a society with the least amount of discrimination and inequality, in my opinion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I think it is a much more interesting way to get to know a place and its people.

Interests

I just love everything that has to do with (underground) clubs and electronic music. I really like the experience of being in a good club, but I also love to look at it from a scientific point of view, because, in my opinion, clubs are much needed spaces for exploring your identity and for a peaceful and accepting coming together of different kinds of people.
Furthermore, DJing and Producing have become a really good way for me to deal with and express my feelings. Since I've started this things, I feel more and more that it would be good for all people to have some kind of creative hobby, as it is one of the most healthiest ways to engage with oneself! :)
To deal with stress I love to get into nature and hike and recently I've discovered baking for myself, which, to me, is really meditative...and tasty! Its also nice to share what you've baked with the people you love.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: mainly House, Melodic Techno and Downtempo, but recently I've started listening to conscious Hip-Hop and other stuff again :) I'm mostly interested in interesting grooves and fresh-sounding synthesisers/melodies

Movies: Interstellar, the Imitation game, Fight Club, Usual Suspects, Lord of The Rings, God of Carnage

TV-Shows: Mad Men, The White Lotus, Rick & Morty

Books: 1984, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin, The Plague by Albert Camus, The Xenogenesis-trilogy by Octavia Butler, Sci-Fi in general

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Going to nepal, surviving a plane Crash, then flying to the Himalaya and walking up to 5400m altitude and seeing Mt. Everest

- after organising a few Open-Air-Partys in the forests around my hometown, I somehow got the chance to develop my own project ( a kind of culture-fair) with support by the state, with over 30 different projects involved and over 1000 visitors.

- giving English courses for senior citizens

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you how to bake some nice cakes. I can also tell you a lot about club culture and electronic music and, if you are interested, show you how to produce electronic music and (if we can find equipment) how to DJ!
I would also love to go down the rabbit-hole that is Science Fiction with you and talk about why I think it is one of the most interesting genres and its canon :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer a look into the nice quarters of Leipzig and, if you are interested, in the underground club scene of this beautiful city.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Brazil, Cambodia, Croatia, England, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lesotho, Nepal, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Thailand, Turkey, United States, Viet Nam
