About Me
Don't know quite what to say here..... I grew up in the San Francisco area in a close and expansive Italian-American home with loads of aunts, uncles, cousins, grand and great grandparents, 3 siblings and parents who were wonderful. I never led a 'normal' life once I reached an age of independence. I explored life and opportunities in my late teens and twenties working in many different places that were challenging and taught me the skills I needed to navigate and create a life worth living, IMHO. Met my husband, Douga, when I was 28 in Seattle, WA while working with the Breakthrough Foundations 10 day Youth at Risk program. We knew we were right for each other and are still adventuring and creating life together 30 years later. We made a plan to move to the Methow Valley in north central WA state, build a homestead and life there that would be easy on the planet and create as much freedom for ourselves from The Machine that we could. We bought land and built an Earthship (home built with earthrammed used tires, and other recycled matrials. Google them they are so cool.), created a wonderful family of choice here, developed our homestead, produced as much of our own food as we could, built numerous businesses here, enjoyed our natural environment, participated in non-profits that promoted a caring and sustainable community. We are now semi-retired and enjoy our time at home as well as our time traveling..... We have traveled throughout the American west, Mexico, the Carribean, Europe and India. We have a vintage small motorhome that we take on journeys every year now, staying mostly in the states. We have 2 adult children, and one grandson who we don't see nearly often enough. We love playing games with friends, sharing meals and enjoying our natural environment. We love life and this beautiful planet. We are very progressive in our POV, not religious and would prefer not having visitors that are close minded or mean. We support Caring Economics!!!! and the highest good for ALL!!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We enjoy meeting new people. Sharing our home and visiting others in their homes is fun and interesting. We had wonderful experiences with Servas while traveling in Europe and want to be part of cultural exchange and positive connections with others. The Methow Valley and North Cascades region, where we live is absolutely beautiful and we want to share this clean air and water, wilderness access and lovely rural community with others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveled through Europe for 10 weeks on the train with 2 months of eurail pass, with my husband. An unforgettable experience filled with cultural awakening and fun. We were totally on the cheap, stayed at hostiles, used all public transportation, walked and walked and walked through cities and towns, museums and new place adventures......
Teach, Learn, Share
We have led a very unusual life that has filled us with happiness and contentment. We freed ourselves from the shackles of The Machine, built our homestead with our own hands kept ourselves free from debt and despair, and when you are 60 and 70 yr old and can say that, I believe we have much to teach and share with others. We are alway open to learning new things and enjoy being and sharing and learning with others.......
