too many movies & books to mention, on a Geraldine Brooks kick right now, young adult novels, Hunger Games, most kinds of music, since back to HS like to keep up on YA lit & suffer through the vampire/zombee thing/ amazed and pleasantly surprised by talents & depth of ideas of YA.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
climbed an active volcano in Guatemala-ridden on the top of an an ancient school bus surrounded by all kinds of fellow travelers & guards with machine guns, seen young people achieve goals they never thought possible

all kinds of people who are curious about our amazing world - geezers who believe Mark Twain's beliefs (loosely paraphrased that travel is the cure for bias & narrow-mindedness) love Catholics with love for the church with all of her failings and hope for the future
