About Me

Hello fellow couch surfers!

My name is Mikaila Ross, I am from Toronto Canada and much like all of you here... I love to Travel! For the past 3 years I've gone from country to country living and working to pay my way and continue my journey.

Much like my general philosophy in life, I believe being able to travel is a privilege and should be done in a way that leaves this world and its people better off rather than worse. Tourism has a massive impact on our earth and its people, I want the impact that my travel makes to be positive in any way I can. Soooooo I travel to help people, I travel for a change.

I am a travelling Chef, Culinary Vocational Trainer, NGO worker, Food Hygiene and Safety specialist and owner of a small social enterprise called Cook Well, Live Well by MR through which I provide all of that above and more to indigenous or disadvantaged youth and women in developing countries to further their opportunities in the culinary field.

I am a very open person, quite liberally minded- love is love and all things in that relm. I am also Caribbean, West Indian Guyanese and I love my culture especially the partying, dancing and food that comes with it! I also love outdoors and hiking and just enjoying peaceful nature. I believe strongly in respect and appreciation, and would gratiously apply these beliefs towards any host who was kind enough to lend their couch :)

RIGHT NOW: My bf and I are travelling Singapore for few days and looking for cool people to meet, hangout and maybe stay with! We're very chill and not at all awkward or clingy haha just want to make some friends and experience Singapore like a young Singaporean :) let's go out and have fun! We really need a clean and peaceful break from the crazy city of Yangon, Myanmar we live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favourite part about travelling is meeting wonderful people around the world and sharing experiences! After all, what is life and beauty if you have no one to share it with?

Although I am new to couchsurfer I have been travelling and meeting new people around the word through work abroad and airbnb. I think couchsurfer is a beautiful give and take, and I am excited to host and be hosted!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For the past 2 years I have been living and working in the rural South of Myanmar(Burma) doing restaurant development for small social enterprises, restaurants and cafes locally run by indigenous minorities. Now I've opened up my own Social Enterprise in Yangon to provide this training with a bigger reach! I love Myanmar but soon we will take Cook Well Live Well global and my work will continue in other parts of the Global South.
