CURRENT MISSION

Planning for my next adventure.

Will be biking the Eurovelo 6 this summer, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea, with my wife and then spending five weeks exploring Eastern Europe by car. Afterwards, I will be a Peace Corps Response volunteer in the Philippines. Because we will be traveling the next 16 months, we cannot host until Sept. 2018.

ABOUT ME

Enjoy all types of outdoor activities, especially backpacking and bicycle tourism. Have gotten into pickleball! Use to run a lot of marathons. Have biked from Alaska to Mexico and across the US multiple times. Interested in LED flashlights and applied physics! Enjoy discussing politics, culture, history, sports, technology, anything science related, philosophy, and religion - basically any and everything is of interest to me.

Married with 3 kids ages 19, 22, 23. Priority on doing family activities, especially outdoors, and traveling to explore other cultures. We do not smoke or drink.

I have traveled all over the world (last count over 70 countries, all the US states and Canadian provinces) via thumb, self-powered locomotion, motorized vehicles, flying machines, and floating devices!

Wife and I are both tourism professors, I specialize in policy level planning, and she focuses on the social psychology of travel.

Two goals in life: cycle from as far north as you can go to as far south as you can go; retrace the silk road on a BMW motorcycle.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Co-founded Bicycles for Humanity project in Thunder Bay. Have sent over 15 shipping containers of used and repaired bikes (7,500) to Africa and local charities.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hitchhiked all over the world before CouchSurfing. Host bikers passing through Thunder Bay.
