About Me

CURRENT MISSION

work my way into grad school for hydrogeology

ABOUT ME

I like finding live music, reading, meeting people through dance and the arts, and dabbling in DIY type projects. Pets have always been a big part of my life, my dog Korzar is my constant companion. I enjoy physical activity, and am just now getting wildly obsessed with swing dance!

PHILOSOPHY

I have tested out a few philosophies. There may be an absolute truth, but each person needs to find their own way to see it and so far for me that means all things in moderation. Organized religion generally doesn't do it for me, but I'm not against it until it starts stomping on other people or making them uncomfortable. I do feel strongly about making my life useful, I'd like to help improve the world on some level - definitely trying to keep things positive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just moved in with some new people and don't know how they feel about couch surfing, however I would love to meet up and hang with you if you're in town just looking to pass the time. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I heard about couch surfing from friends and had my first taste the summer of '09 when some friends and I decided to drive across the country. It was incredible. We stayed with really open, trusting people. It's a fantastic way to travel, especially in a country with so little in the way of affordable accommodations and public transport.

I had the most fun in Albuquerque where our hosts had skateboards and bicycles and time to spend an evening showing us around, although I really enjoyed the freedom an older couple gave us to wander on our own by simply handing us a house key, showing us our beds, and turning in.

Interests

Swing dance! It's the most fun social dancing I've ever tried. Salsa is up there too, but I absolutely love the upbeat tempos and casual style of swing.

I like spending nice days out biking, hiking, or shooting hoops and climbing on things... clowning around is a great way to stay in shape.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love finding new music. I've recently been introduced to Bluegrass and "Newgrass". I don't have any really deeply rooted musical attachments... and despite the dreads my education in reggae is spotty.

I like documentaries, comedies, action movies, sometimes even romantic comedies. I have to be in just the right mood to watch a horror film...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I touched a fawn in the wild.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about horses, I could probably tell you more than you want to know. Unfortunately, I don't have any so practical lessons will be harder to come by.

I am attempting to build a yurt and need some carpentry skills! I've also had a flute for a long time and I know a little theory but I'd really like to jam with people who don't mind beginner skills... and who could work with my limited repertoire.
