About Me

I'm a girl with a heart partly left in Latin America. I have lived there in Argentina for 1 year and in Brazil for 6 months which, I'd say, define me a lot. Seeing the different style of living has changed my personality a little more relaxed and outgoing. At the same time I have seen that also Finnish culture is due to the globalisation changing more to that.

At the moment I'm studying communication in the University of Tampere. It has been an interesting one year. I have lived through a lot of changes. The most important one is moving to live alone (now already 4th apartment going). I have been concentrating more into the school and my well-being and less on other things. A little bit working in a supermarket, playing rugby and doing wall-climbing.

As you can guess, I love to know more about other peoples cultures and lives. I guess this is also a reason that brought me to study communication and journalism. After travelling to around 30 countries during my whole life I'd say that I've kind of gotten used to travel and see the similar touristic places around the world. What changes is the people. That's why I love to use Couchsurfing while travelling around - through the people I can understand the different realities of the country in the way that the buildings, history and media of the country can't show me.

During travelling I want to connect with people, see libraries (yes you heard right), go to some parties, cook food, see sunrises and sunsets, do some sports or other hobbies and go to the nature (especially mountains).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think my passion for couchsurfing started already when I was really young, around 13 years. I've been part of many organisations during all these years and due to that I have slept in the homes of total randoms already before I even knew about a page known as "Couchsurfing". At first it started in Finland and after my exchange year in Argentina I started to take it abroad too.

The first time I used Couchsurfing on a trip in Croatia-Slovenia-Austria-Italy (2016). In Austria we slept in a home of a stranger from Couchsurfing for 3 nights and it ended up being one of the best times of that trip. We made food together, had a party, climbed a hill and learned about our hosts' favorite places.

The second time with Couchsurfing was in a trip after my high school. I was supposed to go to Spain and Portugal for a two weeks trip, but it transformed to a travel of more than one month. I slept in a place in Porto (Portugal) where there were more than 10 persons sleeping through Couchsurfing, everyone for free of course. I felt so much love when I had a high fever - three persons with totally different backgrounds offered me different kinds of help for my sickness. At first I thought that I wanted to go home - "that's it for the travels, this is enough, I feel so lonely and bad". But after getting better I realised how beautiful it is to travel in this way.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is built of Portuguese, Spanish, French and English songs. Some examples of these bands are Anavitória, Residente, Passenger, Oh Wonder, Macklemore and Stromae.

The best documentary that I have ever seen is Human the movie and I'd recommend it to everyone. I even once got to speak with one of the film-makers and that was eye-opening. I also secretly would like to be a cinematographic/journalistic photographer or videomaker.

In the last few years I have gotten into watching more series. Here is a list of my ultimate favorite ones:
- La casa de papel
- Las chicas del cable
- Skam
- The good place
- You me her
- Shameless
- Breaking Bad

I'm into Haruki Murakami's books. Others than that are mostly from Finnish authors.
