About Me
Hello, I love new faces, places, and friends! Wherever I am, I hope to meet my brothers and sisters who are able to share a kind word, information, history, advice, skills, and perhaps a whole day to explore and grab delicious foods.
What I want out of life is to connect, love, laugh, grow, and understand.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet other travelers and locals to hang out with and journey with.
Interests
Love art in all its forms - music/dance/visual/healing/spiritual/story telling/martial/cooking/crafts/etc.
Love plants and I enjoy nurturing my house plants throughout the year and keep a little veggie and herb garden in the warmer months where I live.
Love animals too, especially my cat Buddy, whom I've taken on some road and camping trips a couple of times. He enjoys traveling too, and perhaps we can stay with you for a night this summer when we make our way out to California for our second cross country.
Along with graphic design and photography, I also dabbled in painting, flame working, and ceramics.
Live music is wonderful because of the way the energy and vibrations of the music and the audience permeates the atmosphere. I have been learning the ukulele for 2 years and I enjoy playing the handful of songs I know. I also have a djembe and harmonica.
Reading is great too, I buy more books than anything else besides food.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music : The Postal Service, Kid Cudi, MGMT, The Beatles, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cage the Elephant, Ratatat, Explosions in the Sky, Weezer, Matisyahu, Ravi Shankar, anything that sounds good/gets you moving.
Movies : The Yellow Submarine, Disney movies (especially the older ones), Wayne's World, Dumb and Dumber, Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are, Love Me if You Dare, Battle Royale, Grandma's Boy, zombie movies, and my favorite show is Adventure Time.
Books : This Light in Oneself, Anger, The BFG, A Walk in the Woods, Pet Semetery, and my dozens of cookbooks and plant/remedy/home made products books that I've acquired over the years. I would say my favorite author these days is Thich Nhat Hanh, his words are poetry that can transform your way of thinking to bring peace to yourself and others. My favorite author used to be Stephen King, because of his incredible ability to keep you up all night reading and even keep you up afterwards because you're too scared to sleep.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2013, I went on a cross country road trip from Boston to San Fran with my friend and his cat and 2 kittens. We left in a van with less than $300 and travelled for over a month. It was my first time traveling with no plans and not a lot of money, but it was one of my most fun and exciting trips. We received so much love from the people we met, and many people helped us along our way by giving us gas/gas money, a place to stay, and food to eat.
I have gained so much faith in people and the law of attraction after this trip.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can cook dishes from many cultures but my favorite foods to make (with friends especially) are sushi, curry, and burritos. I would be happy to teach or share my skills in the kitchen.
I am also studying to teach yoga, and have dabbled in other healing modalities such as reiki and tai chi. I can lead a little yoga flow or show you exercises to keep the engine that is your body running well.
I can teach you a handful of songs on ukulele and drum beats I know.
I can teach you English as you teach me the local dialect.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I want to share my time and thoughts with others, and in the process learn about others, myself, and more about the world.
I love sharing a meal and laughs.
Definitely up for sharing epic walks/hikes, and sharing the water and snacks I'll always have on me.
Stories, songs, philosophical talks… whatever I can share, I will!
