Overview
About Me
Hey you all! This is Martin from Barcelona,
I live in a flat with my sister Teresa, we call it "La Plataforma". If you wanna check my sister's profile, please: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/teresa-mm-1
Generally, we have little time, but we will be happy to share time with you if possible. For now, we only host maximum one person.
-------------------------------------------------
I am software developer, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teacher and writer. I consider myself an active person. I enjoy being productive, doing things, and adhering to a habits. At the same time, I am open to contemplative walks and deep conversations.
I like visiting bookstores and libraries, bustling markets, and immersing myself in crowded places, like a flaneur. There's a fondness for discovering new spots, wandering, and taking long hikes. I am drawn to monasteries, mountains, abandoned places, and less-traveled paths.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After doing couchsurfing (and using other platforms) over the years I really appreciate the hospitality of all the people who welcomed me and gave me love. Couchsurfing is like to travel without traveling.
Interests
I love reading, traveling and writing, and my interests are wide: history, philosophy, international politics, literature, martial arts, spirituality, personal development, psychedelia, etc.
Music, Movies, and Books
- Music: Lately, I've been into progressive rock and electronic music, including deep house, techno, psytrance, and more.
- Films and Series: Favorites include "They Live," "The Matrix," "Inception," "City of God," "The Wire," and - "Breaking Bad", among others.
- Books: While I don’t have a favorite, I often recommend "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse and "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- I moved to Scotland to hustle with 1,000 euros in my pocket (no friends, no job, and poor English).
- I wrote a book about a four-month journey I took through Eastern Europe and Turkey, exploring off-the-beaten-path locations like Kaliningrad, Belarus, Transnistria, Gagauzia, Eastern Ukraine, Kurdistan, and Northern Cyprus.
- I've visited Mount Athos and have written a book about it, which is yet to be published.
- I've transitioned my career to software development.
