About Me
CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME
Finally moved to Chicago after growing up in the suburbs, going to school in Madison Wisconsin, then spending two years working at a public school in France, and two years as an English Literacy Volunteer with the Peace Corps in Vanuatu.
I'm easygoing, fun-loving and low stress. I like silence and meditation but I also like to party fairly hard now and then.
PHILOSOPHY
The only meaning life has is the meaning we choose to give it.
While there are points of view I agree with more than others, there are infinitely many ways of understanding the world, and no one is more correct than any other.
I am never so right as when I can admit I am wrong.
The ability to find humor in the world is second in importance only to the ability to love.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
met a few surfers hosted by friends in Chicago.
Surfed a little around France as well as during trips to Brussels, Berlin, and Amsterdam.
Hosted a dozen or so travellers to the volcanic island of Tanna in Vanuatu.
I live in a big co-op now that could potentially host surfers, but I just moved in so I don't want to start bringing in strangers just yet.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm open to all kinds of music. My personal tastes lean towards punk, rock, folk, blues, and hip-hop, but I love when someone can turn me on to some classical or jazz, or better yet something totally new to me. Traditional music is always fun. Most of all I love to hear music created by amateurs which has not yet had the time to be labeled or associated with a particular group of fans.
Spent the my late adolescence basically reading nothing but Kurt Vonnegut, other favorites include Albert Camus, Amélie Nothomb, American classics like Steinbeck, Faulkner, Fitzgerald, and books about meditation and Buddhism.
Movies I get less into, but I still think it's a fantastic form of expression. Some favorites off the top of my head would be The Big Lebowski, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Life of Brian, and I suppose it would be dishonest if I didn't include The Princess Bride
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
spent a lot of time laughing with my friends
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't really have special skills or knowledge, but there are a few things that I think people tend to fool themselves into thinking they can't do. If you've ever thought you couldn't sing or dance or write or draw, I'll do my damnedest to convince you that you can.
