ABOUT ME
I'm a junior at Stanford University, currently studying for one term at Oxford University. My major is English with a creative writing emphasis, but I also have a non-official focus in modernist literature. (Basically, I read a lot of books by Virginia Woolf.) I'll be in Oxford until the end of June, and then for most of July I'll be traveling around Europe with one of my best friends, hopefully having all the adventures I was promised by popular culture.
I'm always happy to meet new people, but beware -- I'm not very good at small talk. If given the choice, I always prefer Big Talk: literature, art, life, society, those kinds of things. I'm pretty social if I feel comfortable, and no one would ever accuse me of being rude (I hope).
I don't smoke or do drugs, but I do drink sometimes, always responsibly. That said, I have nothing against people who smoke, do drugs, or drink irresponsibly -- I'm just not one of them. Similarly, I'm a vegetarian (no meat, including fish), but I have nothing against people who do eat meat. It's just the way I roll.
I'm don't travel light, exactly -- I carry around a good amount of clothes and books -- but I also carry no more than I am capable of carrying by myself, so I never go over one small piece of luggage and one larger piece of luggage.
I'm a friendly, happy, occasionally fun person. I believe in goodwill toward humankind and peace and justice for all. That sort of thing.
PHILOSOPHY
Dance in the street even when there isn't any music playing.
Centres d'intérêt
I'm a big reader, especially of complicated novels that most people find boring (see: Virginia Woolf), but I also love graphic novels, detective novels, young adult novels. I'm also a huge fan of a lot of TV shows and movies, and have an embarrassingly extensive knowledge of actors and actresses. Fundamentally, I'm interested in characters -- people -- the lives they have lived and the stories that are told about them.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I've climbed 287 steps to the top of the Scott Monument in Edinburgh, Scotland. The view is spectacular, and the monument itself is a delight to climb. It's a series of narrow spiral staircases that just keeping getting darker and narrower -- very creepy, very Gothic. At one point, the staircase is so narrow you actually have to turn sideways to climb it. It was quite the experience!
