About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Settling in to Australia

ABOUT ME

Hello Couchsurfing community,

My name is Michele, originally from OZ and my boyfriend Robbie is originally from New Zealand. After spending a couple of years in London, and 9 months of travelling we are finally settling in Australia

Robbie's profile is: https://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=5HGAE9N7U

Some important information about us:

(i) We don't smoke
(ii) Because of our extensive travelling we tend not to stay out late unless it's with the host.
(iii) We don't have any pets with us, but we love pets, so if you have dogs, cats or any other pets then we're cool with that.
(iv) We will probably be the best Couchsurfers you will come across. We're 99.9% sure of that!

If we have sent you a Couchsurfing request then "yes", we have read your entire profile and believe that you will be a good fit for us. As a female I have to make sure that I stay somewhere that's safe and comfortable.

We respect the CS community and are probably more reliable than this website itself :/ (Why CS states we're always in Millimi Sydney is beyond me...) We believe the key to making this work is communication.

As excellent Couchsurfers we are clean, tidy, respectful and a lot of fun to have around - according to other hosts that have had us.

For us Couchsurfing is not just about finding a place to rest your head for the night. It's an experience that will allow us to meet new people, get to know you, share our stories and find out what's hot in your local community. Life is all about relationships after all :)

Robbie's an excellent cook and if you're lucky, he'll cook you the most amazing Eggs Benedict :)

While we like to do the tourist thing, we also like to get off the beaten track and experience the city / area for what it has to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

You only have one shot at life, so enjoy it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As we're travelling right now we love to share stories, good and not so good, about what we have experienced throughout our travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing is not a new concept to those of us from downunder.

We've been doing it for years. When we get back to OZ we'll be hosting many of you...

Interests

Photography, diving, trekking, playing the guitar, concerts, music, adventures, exploring, meeting cool people from around the world.

Robbie & I completed Tough Mudder this year (was Robbie's 2nd time doing it) Where we raised money for the Help for Hero's charity. We loved it and enjoyed challenging our bodies.

Music, Movies, and Books

There's not enough room to write everything I like. But when we're travelling we like to learn more about local interests such as bands etc

Robbie is an international DJ and has played a some amazing clubs / venues around the world (Don't worry, he's enjoying not going to clubs while on holidays...).

He DJ's anything from Deep House through to Funky, Electro and what he calls "Bouncy House"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, where to start. We'll recently we have been hot air ballooning in Goreme, Turkey, paragliding in Oludinez, Turkey, zip lining in Whistler, looking at NYC from the top of the Empire State Building and so the list grows...

But they don't always have to be the biggest and best experiences. One host's boyfriend worked at a local cafe down the road in Chicago, so we enjoyed a morning relaxing and talking with strangers about our travels

Teach, Learn, Share

This is an interesting question. Regardless of whether people have travelled or not we find that everyone has a story to share about their experiences, be it local or international.

We've found that staying at a hotel doesn't give you the same experience as staying with someone like minded. We have been disappointed with the lack of local knowledge hotels can provide you with what's good to do.

Staying with someone from couchsurfing provides you with a whole new experience because the host is very patriotic regarding their local community and what to do and see.

So this allows us to explore unique experiences and gives us a better, local, feel to our travels.

What we learn from our hosts, we can share with others we meet and makes for excellent stories.
