ABOUT ME

Hello, I am Marcus from La Crosse, Wisconsin. I graduated in 2013 with my Bachelor of Art in Global Studies and Business. Since then I have worked in a telephone sales job for one year but decided to give that up and give teaching abroad a try. For the past 2 years I have been working as an English teacher in Taiwan, which I really enjoyed. Recently I have left Taiwan for a new job in Daegu, South Korea. I would love to meet up and swap travel stories or learn more about the cities I am visiting.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a pretty open minded person. I usually would like to take some more time with people before forming an opinion. The same is true about why I travel.

Most people are born in a place and spend 99% of their time there and die there.

That life does not work for me. I think the world to too small to just stay in your tiny section of it. that is why I am on a mission to go out and explore as much as I can.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate in Couch Surfing meet ups and events. When i can find the time I would love to meet you and show you my beautiful city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I hosted a friend that I met traveling in Taiwan in my home and she had a great time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I only recently discovered Couch Surfing when I was participating in an exchange program in Taiwan a few years ago. Since then i thought this is a great way to get a more local and authentic travel experience. I hosted a CS friend of mine when she was traveling in the Midwest and showed her around Milwaukee and Chicago. I also use CS to find local people to meet up and share travel and life experiences. Its so awesome to meet new and interesting people.

Hiking, cycling, trying new food, drinking, learning about different cultures and history.

I love drama, comedy and horror movies. I also enjoy Bollywood movies from time to time.

Recently, I have been watching Game of Thrones, Homeland, American Horror Story, The big bang theory and Shark Tank.

The most amazing thing I have done was climbing the Great Wall of China for the 1st time.
