CURRENT MISSION

I'd like to think myself as a person's who's objective in life is that to serve others in some fashion. To give laughter and joy and maybe even a shoulder to lean on in those times we all share.

ABOUT ME

If my friends were interviewed and asked what kind of man I am, it's my belief they would say that I'm a good father and friend. I carry no pretense or have ideological beliefs that will make others uncomfortable.

I have a tendency to speak with anyone without judgement or prejudice and love to experience the culture of a community, rather than be an observer.

My favorite saying to anyone when wishing them luck, describes me as a person as well. It is: "May your day be filled with the smiles of friends, the love of family and the joy of life."

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just signed up and I would like to participate not only as someone seeking a new experience, but to offer my home as well for those adventurous travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Brand new and have not as of yet had the experience. After reading most of the profiles I've come across, it's my belief the first experience will be mutually satisfactory and rewarding.

Intereses

While travelling, my interests include learning about how a place came to be in history. Seeing a natural wonder rather than a library and having something new in the cuisine I try. It's funny, but I am not apprehensive at all about trying something new...if I'm not sure, I'll give it another go just to make sure.

Most of my time is spent as many others. I work Monday through Friday and have my weekends to take care of all those things that stack up during the course of time. The majority of my time is spent as a single father caring for my disabled son. When vacation time comes, I like to travel as my boy is out of school and engaged with his grandfather and there is time to relax and unwind.

I'm a collector at heart and what really grabs my attention are little out of the way thrift shops and such. You should see my home chalked full of the discarded brick a brack of others that I find amazingly beautiful. From art to ceramics, flowers to new music, my life is meant to learn.

What makes me awestruck? That's pretty easy...it's people. The generosity, love and kindness that I've seen leave me with that feeling that can not be expressed in words, but only in feeling. I try to keep everyone's life in perspective and understand that everyone has a story untold and they are all interesting.

If I were to think of other things that give me a sense of jubilation or a moment of awe...it would be the accomplishments of man. When I lived in Germany, how the castles were perched on the cliffs overlooking the Rhine..how did they get all those stones up there? They are enormous buildings and must have taken a great deal of people and the skill and beauty of it all.

Another moment that created a sense of wonder was while I was snorkeling in Hanama Bay Hawaii. A large group of fish and turtles came to grab from my hands the frozen peas I'd taken with me. When all of a sudden there was a fish larger than I was that came to visit. Scared me half out of my wit as I did him when I jumped 5 feet out of the water like a dolphin trying to escape. It amazes me that there are such gentle and great creatures and I've only seen but a fraction.

At the age of 50 most of what I have to share would be my knowledge of antiquities. I've been a compulsive shopper and have learned a great deal by owning my own antique shop. Vintage jewelry is my favorite, but often find a great treasure most everywhere I go. I've lived in Germany until the age of 12 and can speak to the culture of my family. In my most recent pursuit, I have had a nightclub that was open for the general public, but catered to those that loved to entertain...in whatever fashion they enjoy.
