About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live life to the fullest, meet people, travel, have fun!
ABOUT ME
We are parents of two lovely boys, aged 7 and 10. We love being outside and try to enjoy all the seasons in Canada as much as we can. We have some pretty big dreams, including sailing around the world one day, taking a bike trip down the west coast, and who knows what else!
PHILOSOPHY
We believe that everyone has something to offer. We believe in the goodness of people. We believe life always has a way of working itself out for the best. We believe in each other.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We are currently on a year off (summer 2016-summer 2017)! We are traveling America's Great Loop on a 27 foot sailboat. We are having a great time and meeting lots of great people and seeing awesome things! We are looking for people who might be able to help us a bit on this journey. We would appreciate advice in terms of things to see and do, help getting to a grocery store, a place to take a shower or even a place to tie up for the night. We live very simply on our little boat, so these are the kinds of things that are so appreciated! Also, we are on a bit of budget, as you can imagine, when you are travelling for a whole year, so we can't afford to stay at marinas too often.
This is our blog for this adventure: https://crusingonlivinglife.wordpress.com/
Once we are back, we are open to have people come and stay with us. Our place is small but we can make it work. :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've stayed with a couple of people on the way back from Canada's east coast and another person on Canada's west coast. We had a great guy stay with us on his biking journey. We also had a wonderful family from France stay with us for a few days.

Music, Movies, and Books
James is interested in anything and everything about sailing. I have many interests - don't even know where to start! I currently teach kindergarten, so I'm interested in all things related to early learning. I have recently completed my Masters of Education in Digital Technology, so that's an area that's always on my mind. We love to cook and are concerned about where our food comes from, so we love getting lots of our food from local organic farms. We're always checking out new recipes to try.
And of course, this year, we are both interested in learning and experiencing as much as we can in each of the areas we pass through on America's Great Loop. Oh, and I'm learning more about sailing now too! Lol!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm...
James has travelled all over the place before I met him and even though we've been together for 12 years, I'm still learning about some of the crazy adventures he has had!
For me, hmm...I have to say that having both of our boys at home with the help of a midwife was pretty amazing. I have the privilege of watching the development of both my boys, as well as my students, which I must say, allows me to witness some pretty amazing things each and every day.
And this year...well, it's been incredible so far! We've had one amazing experience after another!
Teach, Learn, Share
James is a pretty amazing artist. He uses traditional blacksmithing techniques and welding to create beautiful, organic pieces of art. So someone might enjoy a demonstration. We both enjoy food and cooking and our friends seem to think we're pretty good at it, so we have that to share, too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We are happy to help out with anything (cooking, cleaning, etc.)! We are easy going! James is able to fix pretty much anything, so he is happy to help people fix things around their house (or boat).
