Hi! We're Max and Natasha. We are a couple from Toronto, ON and lived in Victoria, BC for 4 years. We're now living in Ipoh, Malaysia.

I lived in Australia for work for 6 months, and the travel bug bit me hard! Since I came back 2 years ago, we realized how important travel needs to be in our lives. I quit my job as a chef, Max left the military after 7 years of service, and we've started our own businesses to give us the time, freedom, flexibility (and money!) to enable the travel lifestyle we want.

We love to travelling, cooking, and board games. Intelligent conversation, light debating, and laughs (so many damn laughs) seem to make regular appearances. We also love the outdoors (hiking, biking, walking around and exploring). I love the ocean more than anything and will take any opportunity to jump in! And daily yoga to calm my mind and start my day with positivity. Max loves being in the mountains and hiking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being hosts on CS has honestly been amazing. We've met fantastic people, all with great stories and life philosophies, some of which we've incorporated into our own lives. Now, it's our turn to travel. We want to experience different places around the world the way locals do. Teach us about your culture, and we'll teach you about ours. Show us your favorite hidden restaurant or jazz club or fight club or whatever (holding out hope for the fight club). We'll trade travel and life stories, and tons of laughs. Books and movies- Anything that provokes thought and discussion, or just makes us laugh. And fight club. But we don't talk about fight club. For music- anything that makes me dance! Max is more of a two-step in the corner type of guy, but we make it work!

We can share our travel experiences, and languages (between us we are fluent in English, French and Russian. Currently learning Thai and Spanish).

Max is a former graphic designer and artist, so he can give you some tips on work in that field.

I am a former chef and can cook for you or with you. I would really love to learn to cook your local cuisine!
