About Me

One of my favorite things to do is learn. I really enjoy keeping an open mind and learning about new ways to think and do things. Traveling is one of my favorite ways to do this because it presents such a neat opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture. I love having conversations with new people, but it can be difficult as an introvert. Let’s strike up a conversation about food, animals, our cultures, climate change or any other cool topic.
I try to live as a minimalist. I want to focus on accumulating less stuff and more memories. (But then I have to make sure to write things down because I have a bad memory)
To relax, I like to go on walks, play board games, talk over a nice meal, or settle into a Bob Ross painting video! I LOVE to bake and cook. I enjoy trying foods from different cultures and then work on adding techniques and dishes to my repertoire. Food is a magical creation; it can tell a story and speak to people in ways words never could.
I studied abroad at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. My home university was George Mason in Fairfax, Virginia USA. My B.S. is in Community Health and I'm in the process of applying for Master's programs for Physician Assistant. I’ve backpacked through some of Europe and Japan with my wife and we can’t wait to travel again!

Philosophy: I can only grow as a person by being open to new ideas and experiences. Life is about growth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife, Teagan Tinuviel and I both enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures. Hostels are super cool because of the friendly environment they encourage with total strangers from all over the world. However, sometimes they can be rather large and then people naturally stick to themselves. We've really enjoyed couch surfing because it makes a one on one connection between hosts and surfers. Taking in the perspectives and advice of locals is such a unique and fun way to learn about a new culture.

Music, Movies, and Books

I bop my head to a lot of different music. However, music wasn't a big part of my childhood so now I'm always on the lookout for cool songs. I'd love to hear any suggestions!

My Favorite movies are Finding Neverland, Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, Your Name, Princess Bride. Monty Python and the holy Grail as an honorable mention

I am a big Tolkien Lord of the Rings fan. (bonus points if you can point out the other reference to Lord of the Rings on my profile)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a 3 week camping trip across America. It was my first time traveling and it reawakened a passion for nature in me. Seeing the landscapes change so rapidly and drastically was unreal. The extent of raw natural beauty still left in the world blew me away. At the end of the trip, everyone else was tired of camping; I on the other hand, I felt revitalized and ready to keep exploring.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a passion for going new places and experiencing new cultures. I would love to learn from my host and hopefully impart the same experience to you. I love to cook and watch others cook. Learning and sharing with interesting people is one of the joys of life. I hope if you open your home to me, I can walk out the door with both of us feeling like we've grown in some way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A relaxed visit and an open mind ready to listen. I feel like we all have something to share around the dinner table :)
