About Me

Hey there

Checked my few reviews? They'll tell more about me than I could.

I’m Nathaniel, originally from Geneva, Switzerland, a curious mind, a creator, and a lifelong learner. I’m the kind of person who thrives on meaningful connections, deep conversations, and shared experiences that make life richer.

I’m currently building a mushroom farm, an urban mushroom project that blends science, nature, and sustainability. My days often revolve around cultivating mushrooms, experimenting with substrates, creating educational content, and finding beauty in the balance between biology and creativity.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about art, music, philosophy, and travel. I love discussing ideas, from quantum physics to Renaissance art, as much as I love sharing a good homemade meal or discovering local spots off the beaten path.

I’ve lived in different parts of Switzerland and speak French, English, and German (plus a bit of Swiss German). I enjoy mixing cultures and perspectives, it keeps life vibrant.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I believe people make places.
For me, traveling isn’t about hotels or ticking boxes, it’s about connecting with locals, exchanging stories, and understanding how others see the world. Hosting or being hosted brings a real sense of community and trust that’s rare these days.

I also love the idea that a simple conversation over coffee or dinner can change the way you think, about travel, work, or even yourself.

Interests

I’m fascinated by everything that connects nature, science, and creativity. My main passion is mycology; the world of mushrooms. It’s more than a hobby; it’s a way of seeing life; how everything is interconnected, how balance and patience create growth.

I also love art in all its forms; painting, photography, film, and design. I find beauty in contrasts: the scientific precision of cultivating mushrooms and the poetic chaos of human creativity.

I’m deeply curious about philosophy, consciousness, and the hidden patterns behind things; whether in nature, people, or history. I enjoy conversations that go beyond small talk, where we can laugh, question, and learn from each other.

Music, travel, and culture are my favorite sources of inspiration. From jazz and world music to local street sounds, I love how rhythm and language can express emotions words can’t.

And of course, food, I enjoy discovering local cuisine, experimenting in the kitchen, and sharing meals as moments of connection.

In short: I’m driven by curiosity, authenticity, and the joy of discovering new perspectives, whether through a book, a journey, or a new friend.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can share what I know about mushroom cultivation, sustainability, photography, and content creation. I also love sharing bits of Swiss culture, language, and mindset.

Learn: I’m always hungry to learn new things, from local recipes and traditions to art, spirituality, or even someone’s unique way of seeing life.

Share: I like to share time, stories, good energy, music, and food. I enjoy helping others see that even small things, a conversation, a walk, or laughter, can be deeply meaningful.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation; about travel, culture, nature, or the universe itself. I enjoy listening and sharing stories that go beyond the surface.

Cooking and sharing meals; I love preparing simple, fresh dishes (and if you’re curious, I can even introduce you to some mushroom-based recipes 🍄).

Help and contribution; I’m happy to lend a hand around the house, help with a project, or bring a bit of structure and calm energy to the space.

Knowledge and inspiration, If you’re interested, I can share insights about sustainable living, mushroom cultivation, creative projects, or even how to start your own mindful business.

Art, laughter, and music; I enjoy creating a relaxed, inspiring atmosphere where everyone feels at ease and connected.

Above all, I offer respect, gratitude, and genuine curiosity. For me, every host is not just offering a place to sleep; they’re opening a window into their world, and that’s something I deeply appreciate.
