About Me

CURRENT MISSION

find my way

ABOUT ME

I honestly believe there is no way anyone can describe their own personality accurately. To quote Pirandello, Muriel Barbery or even Plato, there is just no way to truly get known to each others: we are just mirrors of ourselves.

But at least, we can try.

As a traveller, which is what you should be interesting in knowing, I have basically been travelling since I was in my mother's womb (literally)!
I spent the first 16 years of my life travelling with my parents (oh how original!) but it gave me the opportunity to discover every corner (do countries have corners?) of Europe. Seriously, with them, I have learned that France in not Paris as Spain is not Barcelona&Madrid, and so on: the true beauty of countries is hidden in small towns and unreachable spots.

When I was 17, I won a bursary with AFS and went for a term abroad in SA: I never really came back. My soul got lost and then I am sure someone stole it. So, from that very moment, I am still looking for it.

During my journey to find it again, I took a gap year: I travelled around Europe again by myself, visiting the places I fell in love with, hoping to find it somewhere; then I went back to SA, on the other coast, hoping that maybe she (can't really speak about a soul referring as 'it', so I will use 'she') was hiding there.

But in this mad research, I fell in love with people's madness, and took a decision that changed my life: I would have found my soul in any other people's madness.

...because we are all mad...

So, eventually, I started my Neuroscience degree at the University of Edinburgh. I got a flat here, but not really a home: home is where your treasure is. And my treasure is my soul. So I still have many other roads to walk, ships to take, trains to jump on and blablabla.

If you saw somewhere a sparkling flaming star with heavy chains, you are please asked to return it to the owner: you have just found my soul.

PHILOSOPHY

If we are talking about proper philosophy, I do believe that there has been no progress since the dispute between Parmenides and Heraclitus.

If we are talking about 'my philosophy of life', I guess that the stereotypical 'carpe diem' or 'be the change you want to see in the world' are quite nice.

The truth is that I really got my own philosophy, but it is just of the kind that you have to feel in your own eyes (yes, you read it right) to understand.

Interests

Beauty.

Is that enough? To me it is. As beauty includes funny people who have a wonderful sense of humor because it means they are clever, and if they are clever, they have something to teach me, something that is only theirs: they have their own eyes to see the world through. So I am sure that anything will just become incredibly interesting if it is done in their company.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: I like dramatic movies, as well as Disney movies and English comedies. Usually I am very chill with any type, I just can't stand stupid american comedies that try to imitate english and robots or monsters mashing thing up with no plot!

Music: I love romantic music (and when I say 'romantic' I mean the music composed in the 19th century, NOT cheesy music!). I do love Queen, as well as some modern group such as Coldplay or Muse, usually classified as 'rock' or 'alternative'. My favourite alive composer is Ludovico Einaudi (and please do not write to me saying you also love him just because you may have heard 'Le Onde/The Waves', there are many other beautiful pieces!)

Books: my favourite book ever is 'The Elegance of the Hedgehog', as well as Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. Big difference hey?! Well to me a good book is just a good book, so I will read Nietzsche or Marquez, but if I go to the beach you will just see me reading Dan Brown!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I will just tell you this: every time I tell my stories, everyone proposes to publish them.

So, what do you think about joining me for a beer?

Teach, Learn, Share

Apparently I am brilliant at explaining Maths. Not modestly, I think I am brilliant at explaining anything I truly understand myself!

I appreciate people who do understand what they are talking about, therefore I will be truly amazed to learn anything you consider to be your area of expertise.
