About Me

Holaa CS!
Fellow traveller from the lands of Australia here. I grew up in a bay-side town called Frankston, and in 2017 I took a leap of faith and bought a one way ticket to North America, and am yet to return home!

I am super friendly, passionate and compassionate, always seeking knowledge and learning new things, and am always down for some good conversation (and tasty food)
I favor experiences and friendships over things and money. I carry a notebook and sketchbook instead of a smartphone, but usually I always have a camera on me as I love photography!

I'm super outgoing, but I can also be silent. Known to be super goofy and love to crack terrible jokes, but also earnest and very sensible. I always smile, and do my best not to take myself or life too seriously. I try to always inspire positivity in myself and the people around me. I know how to feel and work with the energy of the people I am around, and I am super respectful of peoples privacy, feelings, and beliefs.

Living as simply as I can is something I am always striving for (although the weight of my backpack may say otherwise) and I really don't need much to be comfortable and happy.
I have slept in the streets, in the woods, on beaches, and on hard tiled floors. Your couch is perfect.

Back in Melbourne I worked in a lot of kitchens because I just love being around food, and have a continually growing passion for cooking, one of my many dreams is to one day starting a hole-in-the-wall style take-out joint.

My favourite thing to do when I get to a particular city or town is to get outside, on a bike or simply getting lost on foot, talk to the locals and make people smile, take photos, hike trails and go camping, and get a truly immersive experience of the area through learning language (just Spanish for now!), discovering new foods, coffee shops, taking local public transport, and engaging in conversation with anyone I meet!

PHILOSOPHIES

Variety is the spice of life.
Reciprocate Reciprocate Reciprocate.
Smile, and the world will smile back. Even if it doesn't, keep smiling anyway.
Ideas and conversation can change the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hostels can be fun, but I think they can lure you into a comfort bubble. For me, Couchsurfing allows a more authentic perspective by meeting locals, getting their knowledge of the area, their favorite things to do see and eat, and also gives us a medium in which to share our life experiences which can lead to amazing and perspective shifting conversation.
Also, of course, travel can no doubt be really expensive, so to be able to continue it for as long as possible is a major bonus!

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

Music too me is a tool - to amplify how I am feeling, to distract certain areas of my brain while I do certain tasks, it all depends on the mood I am in and what I am doing!
I love discovering new music and artists from the globe so I'm always down to hear something new!

BOOKS

I love any book about ancient civilizations, historical events, the natural word, or anything with practical information that anyone can apply.

Currently reading 'Cloud Hidden - Whereabouts Unknown' by Alan Watts

MOVIES + TV

naaaaa not too much into TV. Although I will watch anything that inspires creative thought, a want to travel, or anything with nice cinematography.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In March 2018 during my travels through Mexico, I decided to get rid of my smartphone, opting instead to connect with the world around me as much as I possibly can while I travel. I am happier, more compassionate, more attentive, and have an abundance of positive things to share about the last 13+ months of being liberated from the black mirror!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook, and I want to learn how to cook different cultures and countries cuisines.
I can teach about Australia's history, and our cuisine, although our food is hard to replicate anywhere besides Australia. I can definitely teach you how to make some of my favourite desserts growing up as a kid!
Besides taking photos of places I visit, I love to sit down in a certain area and draw pieces inspired from whatever I can see around me, always down to teach what I know and learn what I don't
I want to continually Spanish skills, and I want to learn and practice how to help others improve their English skills. For me, it's the most fun when I have no other choice but to speak Spanish!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, many smiles, laughs, and lots of positive energy.
I can help around the house with anything from basic housekeeping to small construction/garden projects. And of course, I would love to cook for you!
I can make some pretty amazing postres, curries, vegetarian dishes, you tell me what foods/flavours you are into and I will open your mind and heart through my cooking!
If your town has places to have film developed, and the idea of 35mm photography interests you, I can get you a physical or digital copy of any photos I have taken of you, your pet/s, family portraits.. whatever subject you request!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
