About Me

CURRENT MISSION

love, serve, be kind

ABOUT ME

My wife, Sarah, and I moved to Racine a few years ago. I've switched gears recently to focus more on my love of music. I'm currently getting my singing voice back in shape and participating in any and all music opportunities I can. Sarah is working with environmental education on a beautiful farm with gardens, a variety of animals, and solar & wind energy.

We enjoy living so close to Lake Michigan, attending artistic events in the area, canning & fermenting, camping, growing food & flowers, poetry, walks in the woods, and meeting great new people!

PHILOSOPHY

I don't have much figured out about this life, certainly not enough to call it a philosophy. I think most people crave close relationships, which many find in their family of origin, and most spend their lives trying to fulfill. Our world is changing in ways that makes it harder and harder to find these kinds of close relationships, everybody moving around and whatnot. As much as I can, I try to love where I'm at, who I'm with, and what I'm doing. It's not the key to happiness, but it's the only way I know to fulfillment. I'm about fulfillment. Happiness is cheap. Fulfillment is costly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have really appreciated the CS community & the friendships and unique insight we've experienced. We've surfed a handful of times in the US and also in Sweden. We've hosted only occasionally but hope to do that more now that we have a house with a bit more space!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We surfed in Seattle, El Paso, NC and Sweden. It was great! We've hosted once and would love to do more, However, our location doesn't draw a ton of surfers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nick:
I have seen the source of the Ganges River in the mountains of northern India. It is an iceberg so big it has a great field on top of it, and the river roars out from under the berg in full sway. Adjectives fail to describe.
Sarah:
Lived in the Philippines for a year, canoed in the Boundary Waters, traveled to Norway, Greece, Italy, China.
