Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm Nicola, a 20-year old medical student (just in second year, nothing much) from Germany. I speak German, English and Japanese - at least good enough for everyday conversations (around N4/N3, although I forgot way too many Kanji). Currently I'm just attending university, but I'm already looking forward to my next travels!
I do not use Couchsurf for dating! Please don't just send friend requests, text me directly if you wanna talk :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've stayed with a Japanese host family for ten months when I was fifteen, going to school and learning a lot about this amazing culture and people. At first this exchange year was just a stupid idea of my 13-year old self, but it fundamentally changed the way I think about earth and its citizens. I love learning about different ways of living, thinking and being, about different cultures and languages and the people behind it.

Music, Movies, and Books
I primarily like rock and pop from the 70s, 80s and 90s, like Bon Jovi, Queen, ABBA and Jefferson Airplane (at least those are the ones I listen to quite often), but also other artists that don't really follow any system, like Cosmo Sheldrake, Die Ärzte or Fish In A Birdcage. In general I prefer songs I can sing along to or ones with a catching rhythm.
I don't really watch that many movies, but when I do, it's mostly Ghibli movies or similarly peaceful stuff. In general I just prefer books to movies and series. When it comes to reading, I'm always searching for different ways of thinking and feeling - and writing. I like Donna Tartts 'The Secret History', different works of Mieko Kawakami and Jane Austen, though the list of course doesn't end there.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ice-bathing with my best friend. It was pitch-dark, 10 pm, and although it was -7 degrees Celsius, the lake wasn't frozen. We went in three times and of course did catch a cold, but still it was the day I felt most alive in my entire life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning about different people and cultures in general. If I wasn't studying medicine, I'd probably do something with languages and cultures.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with the household and garden, clean and cook. I'm no specialist, but I've been living alone for some time and do like my apartment tidy (although I'm totally used to some chaos, my family has never been too earnest about it). In general, just ask and I'll try to help with whatever I can!
