About Me

G'day!

Nic's the name and having fun is my game. I'm from little (not-so-old) Tasmania, at the bottom of Australia. I moved to the UK to mix life up a bit at the start of 2014.

Breakfast and good socks are the key to a good day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To do something different and meet great people. I think memories and experiences are more important than possessions. This translates to travelling. Couches and hostels make for an experience to be remembered. Hotels and resorts are basically the same everywhere.

Interests

There is nothing better than doing something that scares you. I will try anything once, twice if I like it!

I love SCUBA diving and the ocean as a whole. I run a lot. I like to cook.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a good British comedy and enjoy the sort of books that keep you up until 3am telling yourself 'just one more chapter'.
I enjoy all kinds of music and back in Australia spend my days listening to Triple J. I'm more of a theatre goer than a movie watcher.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered in Fiji building cyclone proof housing for two weeks in 2013. It is one of the most rewarding things I have done. Apart from the small group I was with, we only saw two tourists in the area we stayed. I got to meet and befriend locals and hear about their lives. It's a beautiful country full of amazing people. The night we arrived, there was a fair happening, and for FJD$2, we got to ride a Ferris wheel built in a shed from car parts for 20 minutes. It was as scary as it was fun.

After the volunteering, I island hopped for a week with a couple of mates. Not only did I learn how to SCUBA dive, I got to swim with manta rays! Incredible to not only see but swim with these creatures, whilst they were performing acrobatics in front of me!

Once I jumped out of a helicopter over the Swiss Alps. It was cold.

Oops, that's more than one thing.
