About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to learn as much about the world as I can!

ABOUT ME

I'm Nicole, an English teacher in Japan :) I just graduated from college with a degree in sociology.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind, be true to yourself, and be open to the world around you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to travel around Japan as a couchsurfer :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I visited Japan in January 2013 and had my first couchsurfing experience. I stayed with my host for about a month and by the end, we became a couple. We have since broken up, but I will forever be grateful for his kindness. It was a great first surfing experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a bit obsessed with documentaries right now, but some movies I love in general are:
Pride & Prejudice (2005 version)
Kamikaze Girls
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Love Actually
Yaji and Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims
Little Miss Sunshine
The Breakfast Club
Pretty in Pink

I like all kinds of music! My most favorite Japanese band is TOKIO. For American music, I usually listen to A Fine Frenzy, The Shins, Brand New, Bayside, and some 80's music XD

My favorite books are "where the sidewalk ends", "the happiness project", and "how to be an explorer of the world"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've seen/done was when I taught at an English camp for junior high school students. It was in beautiful Kiyosato, Japan and I was so proud of my students, who were super quiet and shy and managed to give a speech in English in front of the entire camp.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English (I'm an English teacher anyway) and I can show you some of my favorite places in Tokyo~ I'm also happy to share my homemade cooking. I can also tell you my experiences in traveling around japan. I would like to learn about your favorite foods from your country, your native language, and hear your travel experiences!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, South Korea

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United States
