About Me

I'm a filmmaker and an actor currently based in Mumbai. I have a feeling that my real calling lies in traveling, and experiencing as much of the country, and the world after that, as I can in my lifetime. I try and take some time out every once in a while from my work to explore this facet of mine. In fact, wherever I can help it, I try designing my work such that it needs me to travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to explore travel in a more extensive way. From how I see it, Couchsurfing provides me an opportunity to explore and experience places the local way, since meeting people, tasting their food, and experiencing cultural nuances is what really interests me while traveling. Also, as an artist I'm always looking for stories, and there's no better way to find stories than actually through locals. Plus, honestly I also expect it to be a little easier on my pocket while traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to classical instrumental music, and soft lyrical music, in languages that I understand. Retro Hindi music, Nurat Fateh Ali Khan, Farida Khanum, Bob Dylan, The Doors are a few favourites. Also a big fan of Fusion music, from different cultures.

Being a film student, I like to watch all kinds of movies from the world over - Iranian films being my favourite.

You'll always find a book or two in my bag. I go from fiction to non-fiction, from philosophy to history, from politics to spirituality without a pattern.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited the Mahakumbh mela in 2013, and had the time of my life with The Rainbow Family, a group of world travelers.
I have taken 3 long road trips around the country in the last three years, as part of my work. These were trips from Mumbai to Sikkim, Kutch to Cherrapunjee, and Pondicherry to Mumbai, and these were for different seasons of a travel show that I produced and participated in.
I recently made a show called Chords of Change, covering protest music artists from across the country, and brought their voice out through my show.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn from the experience of other surfers. I want to learn about local cultures and their intricacies in the places I visit.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A lot of talking. My experiences. Books, maybe.
