Overview
About Me
I am a travel entrepreneur based in Northeast India. I was using the city of Guwahati in the state of Assam, India as a base to run my experiential travel company called www.chalohoppo.com. Currently I have taken a career break to pursue my masters degree in the UK funded by the Chevening scholarship. I am based in Durham, Northeast England and studying MSc Management (Entrepreneurship). I have a year in the UK, and would love to explore as much as I can, while balancing the rigorous academic life.
I recently turned a vegetarian (not vegan, yet). I love the outdoors. A bonfire is all I need and may be a chilled beer to go with. I am happy to host people as well, but staying in university accommodation has its constraints.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have travelled quite a lot in the region of Northeast India, and hence believe that I can assist travellers in having a great experience when they come down to this side of the country and likewise when I go and visit someplace which isn't home, I expect a similar welcome.
Interests
I absolutely love to rough it out and explore unseen parts of the country, and now a bit of England, and perhaps Europe. I enjoy music of all kinds but specifically sway towards various genres of rock, from pop punk to alternative to hardcore. I do play the tabla, and can sing when no one is watching.
On a weekend I would rather be in the wild, than in a bar.

Music, Movies, and Books
I wouldn't call myself a movie buff but I do enjoy a good film and have seen most of the top rated movies on IMDB.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been a full time teacher for two years at a low income school in Pune, India. The harsh life of the children I taught me more about life, than anything else I have done.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If and when you want to visit India, I can give you the secrets of exploring India's most mysterious corner, its northeastern states.
