I am semi-retired and self-employed and can work anywhere on my laptop. I just moved from Northern California to Florida last December. Sadly I moved here because the wildfires are getting just too scary and stressful in California. I had been thinking about leaving for 5 years, but last year after having to evacuate for 3 days, and not knowing if my house would be there when I returned, I felt that it was the final sign for me that I should get it together and leave. At least with the Florida hurricanes, there is a warning, with a wildfire, it could happen in the middle of the night -- very stressful. On a happier note, I love to sing, it is one of my joys. I love to sing in harmonies with other people. And I am an amateur ukulele player. I miss my singing groups that I was a part of for years in California, I love small adventures and having fun wherever I go - I heard a quote once ~ Having fun is the highest form of appreciation ~ I love that.

My original plan was to buy a used van and travel around Florida to see where I might want to live. But after staying with the one friend I have here, in Clermont, Florida, I realized that that was probably an unrealistic plan, so I decided to move to The Villages in Florida as a home base, because it seemed like a safe place for me as a single woman to land and get grounded. I moved to the old section of the Villages with mobile homes which is much more affordable than any other part of the Villages. So I want to explore Florida to see what feels like a place I can settle in and call home. A friend told me about coach-surfing, which I had never heard of and was amazed that a site like this existed! And I thought that would be a perfect way to get to know the various areas of Florida. I have expanded the area I am looking to South Carolina and North Carolina. And I want to thank everyone in advance for participating in such a generous gift in allowing us to stay with you! Once I find my home I will do the same.
