About Me

I had COVID in early 2021 and was later Vaccinated with Pfizer

------- About me -------
My name is Igor.
I am from Russia, Moscow.
I graduated from the department of Computer Science of Moscow State University, Computer Vision group. However, my interests go far beyond mathematics and programming. I play the violin, sing, direct short movies and enjoy photography. I love learning foreign languages: I can comprehend Spanish, speak Japanese, read German and French although I have little speaking practice in all of them. I like hiking, sports and dancing.
I enjoy working with kids. I was a counselor/group-leader at 7 different camps in 4 different countries (Russia, USA, Japan and France).

Besides "standard" CouchSurfing I am also open to:
- Longer stays (several weeks+) for an exchange of teaching you/your-kids/your-parents/your-friends mathematics, programming or game development. I can teach all of these for shorter stays as well. Just, the more time I have, the more I can teach:)
- Become a crew/sailor on your boat. At the moment I don't have any experience in this but I am eager to learn. This is my top-pick for "learn" part of my profile!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

All of my earlier trips were "tourist style" with parents and (sometimes) their friends: we were mostly hanging out within our own group. Although it was also quite good it is not the type of travel I currently want to have. I would like to immerse myself into the culture of different country while sharing the culture of mine by chatting and living with people from that country. CouchSurfing is a great way to do it.

Unlike hostels, where there are usually too many people who often move in and move out, CouchSurfing provides closer and more stable relationship between the host and the guest. It allows both parties to get to know each other better.

CouchSurfing Experience:
Quite a lot actually, as you can judge by reviews. They were mostly good, although I was also abandoned 4 times (host just disappeared). After surfing for all this time I am excited I can now host at least for a while.
This following info is outdated but I'll expand on it later:
So far I've only travelled on my own six times:
- US in summer 2015
- Finland/Helsinki in February 2016
- Japan in August 2016
- Belarus/Minsk: April 30 - May 5, 2018
- Greece/Thessaloniki: May 7-10, 2018
- France/Italy/Croatia/Slovenia: July 1, 2018 - now
With an exception of Greece, I stayed in each of these countries via CouchSurfing at least once and all of my stays were great.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have never worked with kids until June 2014. I had three exams during the camp session and I wasn't even sure I would like the job but I dared to be a camp counselor just because I wanted to and I felt it is a right decision.
Not to say I skipped that three exams. But does it matter?
I later worked at an American, two Japanese camps (with Japanese kids, which usually surprises people the most) and a French camp. That means that in total I was a counselor at 7 different camps in 4 different countries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you mathematics, programming, game development or help you practice Russian/English.
I would like to improve my Spanish/German/French/Japanese, in which I currently don't have a lot of speaking practice.
I am eager to learn and try out sailing. My quite new profile: https://findacrew.net/en/crew/314955.
Should you need a crew member without obligatory experience, let me know.
Overall, I like to learn most of the things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can...
- help you start learning programming
- bring you something from Russia
- tell you about life in Russia/Moscow and my experiences while travelling
- help you with your Russian (my native language) or English (not my native language, but my level is quite high)
- help you with your kids (preferably 7+ age)
- exchange life opinions, philosophical discussions
- and just bring some fun
