About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the bright side of life, be wise, open-minded and curious, never judge anyone or anything, not put any limits on my dreams.

ABOUT ME

My favorite activities are laughing and travelling. I think I'm open-minded and I aim at being a lot more thanks to travels. I love learning about foreign cultures and meeting new people. I'm sociable and extremely curious, in a positive way ! I'm very interested in arts in general, but especially in dance and yoga.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to accept what is and it's an every day challenge ! Taking the best from everything, being the most positive as possible, catching the daily moments of happiness (so numerous !) and moan no more than 30 seconds about life's hitches and little disappointments (yes, moaning can relieve !)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to visit couchsurfers when I'm travelling, it enables me to discover the real culture of my hosting country. I would like to welcome you as well in my new home, near Granada.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Quite a lot now : in Canada, Israel, Jordania, Lebanon. First, I went to a French guy's place for an exam in the south of France, in Grenoble. Whan I came to Senegal, I visited a couchsurfer, in Dakar, that was great to be part of his family. I went with a friend of mine to Bilbao in Spain, we were hosted by a nice Scottish man leaving there, he took us in he city, it was so wonderful ! I've also hosted a couple of couchsurfers' friends in Corsica. I was there for two months by the time and was able to host people for the first time. The experience was really rewarding.

Interests

dance (a lot af dance : classical, modern, jazz, hip- hop...), yoga, running, arts, drama, music, cinema, video, photo... I love exhibitions as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Senegal, in the Casamance, I met a guy who took me to Diolas' ceremonies (the regional ethny). It's called something like "Diolas baths". I assisted two different ones. It was about 20 Km from Ziguinchor, the biggest city of Casamance. This big deal took place in a forest. A lot of people came there because of the village's chief who was renowned for his wisdom. It was particularly crowded during this exam period. It consisted in rubbing green plants in a water bucket. First af all, I had to remove my clothes (not my underwears) and put a wide piece of cloth around my body. Then, I had to put the strange water on my face three times while thinking over my wishes. Then, I was supposed to sip thrée times the strange mixture. This first time, it was in front of the east, then in seven other places. Each time, I had to full my bucket with the well's water and wait for the "manager" of the place, who dispatched people across the forest. At the, end, we had a short talk with the old man.
Th second ceremony was led by woman. We had to wait for a whole village's women to be there, which was not that easy (some of them were in the fields, others doing shopping,...). They gathered in a forest as well. We had to remove our shoes, then we sat down the ground. The two oldest ladies were beside a "fromager" tree ( a big tree with strong roots) supposed to host the spirits. She heard our troubles and wishes and passed them to the oldest women. She advised us as well. While the old ladies offered some presents to the tree and consequently to the spirits, the others sang strange songs which really touched us, that was so mystical and surrealist. We went a bit farer and they bath us, spilling over our heads water buckets while the others were still singing, but a diffrent song this time. Eventually, we came back to our car, but wa had to take a different way than the first one we had used to come in the forest, since after the whole ceremony, you're a bit like a new born.

Teach, Learn, Share

The most magical thing when travelling is being carried away by random meetings and situations, letting space to chance. I love speaking with as many people as possible when I'm traveling, that's the real trip. So far, it enabled me to discover cultures I wash(t familiar with, to make new friends, great memories and sometimes, welcome them back in France !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like cooking a meal when I'm being hosted, and even when not. I love debates concerning a very wide range of topics ! When people are available and willing to, I obviously love to visit their favorite places in town. I try to give back as much as possible, by driving people around, sharing a meal, experiences, whatever's possible according to the situation and the country. I don't see couch surfing as a means to save money so I try my best to show my hosts I'm not considering their place as an Hotel and expect my guests to do the same when I'm the person hosting.
