Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m new to Couchsurfing but not new to traveling. I’ve stayed in hotels, Airbnbs, campgrounds—you name it. I’ve loved the places I’ve visited, but I’ve missed out on really connecting with locals and seeing what life is like beyond the tourist spots. I’m excited to dive into Couchsurfing and discover a more genuine, local side of the places I visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I’m all over the place—it really depends on my mood and the moment. I love meaningful lyrics that make me think or reflect, but the tune has to catch my attention right away. It’s either love at first listen or I move on quickly. I’m not much of a movie buff, and I don’t dive into books often, but I’m always open to recommendations if something really stands out!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Picking a favorite travel story is tough because there are so many, but one that really stands out is from a recent trip to Morocco with my girlfriend. We were driving around the country, exploring some pretty remote areas, when we started picking up students who were hitchhiking to or from school. We did this several times, and each time, we were met with nothing but curiosity and big smiles. Despite the language barrier, there was no fear—just genuine interest in these foreigners giving them a ride. We might not remember every detail of the trip, but those smiling faces in our backseat will stay with us forever.

I believe that every conversation is an opportunity to both teach and learn. Whether we’re sharing stories, discussing music, or exploring different perspectives, there’s always something valuable to take away when we’re open-minded and curious.
