I'm me, a perennially single fellow, sometimes amusing, easily amused, generally kind but trained not to expect it in others (so it is a nice surprise when it is found).

PHILOSOPHY

Sometimes, I think my life is just that space between being born and being dead. But then that's kind of the challenge - making it a good space, for me, for those who have contact with me.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've long been in online travel forums, giving guidance to those visiting my country. So, yeah, if people come to Dunedin, I'll be able to point out the places with evil coffee to be avoided, give a lead on good places to go, put them up, maybe even take them places. So far, I have successfully hosted 7 people and counting - it has been a good experience.

I see a lot of movies, more the arthouse type than the actioneer. Still think Ghost World might be my favourite, but it is hard to say. Same with books - am always reading (and studying literature). A Suitable Boy is hard to beat. Was so involved with music I was a volunteer radio DJ on student radio, but got a little long in the tooth.

One of the most amazing memories I have is a very simple one - taking a motorcycle out in the early morning in the far north of Thailand, and climbing up this big hill to a monastery and watching the world wake up.

I have a once comprehensive but now fading knowledge of New Zealand music of the 1980's to say 2005. And more law than anyone would care to know.
