ABOUT ME

My name is Suzanne. I'm an Ambassador for Adventure & Advocate for Sustainability

I have an extreme curiosity for discovering new cultures and places. The adventurous kind, and the full sense of it! I travel at slow pace, at very slow pace… Usually, I stay in a place for a month, if not nine. I explore places by living them, local style. It makes me able to experience the real essence of a destination, to get to know the cool local spots and places, its culture, and its people. While at the same time I contribute to the local scene at the best I can do. By sharing the adventures on my blogs and social media (@oceanpreneur), I hope to broaden minds, and make others aware how they can get the absolute most out of travel. Not just for themselves, but for the places and people they are visiting, that are in most cases less fortunate than the traveller. I write about Eco and Ocean Adventure on theOceanpreneur.com. Sooner or later I build or buy my own boat and you are welcome on board!

During my 10 years of adventuring around the world there has been one constant: the calling of the ocean. In, at or near the sea I’m the best version of myself. I freedive into the deep, hitchsail across oceans, and play around with my kite and board. The ocean gives me my play, my life. I feel more responsible and motivated than ever to bring life back into the ocean. Cause the ocean are dying. The time to do something is NOW! My ocean explorations have taught me about the magnitude of the challenges our oceans are facing. And its urgency! There is no time for ignorance any more. The ocean gets emptied, trashed, polluted and acid because of our behaviour. I cannot force people to change. But I can encourage, inspire, and inform. Hopefully that broadens some horizons and triggers for positive change. Cause we all need to team up to keep our playground, our life, our ocean, alive! With love from the ocean,

Suzanne,
