About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I haven't given up on taking over the world yet, but my short-term objective is to improve my Russian.

ABOUT ME

I'm really tall. That's always the first thing people say :)
I also often hear that I look French, though I'm not sure what that means! You tell me...
I'm easy-going and open-minded. Not a very original thing to say, but I think it's a pre-requisite for a CSer.
I love languages. I even like grammar! My current obsession is Russian. The next one will be either German or Arabic.

When I travel, I try not to be merely a tourist. I always end up walking around the less touristic areas of the city, talking to and going out with locals. That's one of the reasons why I learn languages.

PHILOSOPHY

It won't be that personal since it's a quote, but here goes:
"My formula for human greatness is AMOR FATI: that one wants to have nothing different, not forward, not backward, not in all eternity. Not merely to bear the necessary, still less to conceal it (...)but to LOVE it."

Nietzsche

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Occasionally hosting and surfing, and often meeting people in Paris or abroad!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed quite a bit when I was in Japan and when visiting Thailand and the US, but I've more hosted than couchsurfed. I've hosted friends from Japan, Russia, Sweden... all over the world really! That was before I heard about CouchSurfing.org and I was glad to hear that such a network exists.

Interests

I like working out, reading, partying, writing, eating and drinking, Japan, clubbing, psychology, scuba diving, history, karaoke, watching football, traveling, spending way too much time on the internet, and quite a lot of geeky stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Thus Spoke Zarathustra and A Genealogy of Morals by Nietzsche are the two most influential books I've read. Novels: The Magic Mountain by T. Mann , The Man Without Qualities by R.Musil. I generaly like French, Russian and Japanese classic literature.

Music: a list of artists would be too long! genres: Mostly rock with guitars (from 50's Rockabilly to ... The Strokes maybe), blues and classic soul, but I branch out a lot. And when it comes to club music, anything goes!

Movies: my favorite movie has to be Indiana Jones, the Last Crusade, because it's a perfect adventure movie. I watch a bit of everything, but I haven't seen anything really great for a while...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tokyo nightlife + vodka + loud music.
Also, skydiving.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach English, French, Japanese, philosophy and French literature.

I'm willing to learn pretty much everything.

Countries I’ve Visited
