About Me

I love exploring places that are fresh and new to me, adventures and misadventures, making friends from other cultures, and doing something good for the world whenever I have the opportunity.

Although I love to travel whenever I can, I've found that you don't need to go far from home at all to have the open and adaptable mentality of a traveler. I like meeting people from different backgrounds and I can be equally comfortable in the city or navigating my way through rough, remote places. I've discovered bicycle touring as an amazing way to experience a place and meet people, and so far have have traveled by bike in the US, Cuba, Sri Lanka, Iceland, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Dominican Republic, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Algeria, and Bangladesh. Trying new foods is always a huge highlight for me!

I can be happy spending time alone but I also enjoy cutting loose, having fun and being silly with people who I've gotten to know well. I'm open-minded and I go with the flow, but I also stand up for things I believe in.

I like being active and am usually up for anything, so if there's something you've been wanting to do, let's go! That said, if you're busy I'm also comfortable entertaining myself and exploring on my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm so grateful to Couchsurfing and the ways in which it has allowed me to share insightful and memorable experiences with people that I never would have met otherwise. CS is such an amazing platform that allows travel to be a deeper and richer experience through human connection. The world would be a much better place if everyone could experience travel in this way!

I'm currently working seasonally as an outdoor guide and am not living in any one place for very long. But I really want to host more people in the future and make my guests feel comfortable and help them have authentic experiences. I wish I could return all the hospitality that I've received when traveling, and I feel motivated to help other travelers whenever I can.

Interests

I enjoy the unexpected, situations that lead to stories, being uncomfortable often enough to make me appreciate comforts, interesting conversations and sharing ideas, nights out, hiking, river and ocean activities, bicycle travel, politics, home cooked food and street food, movies, music, photography, writing, snow, sun, warm water, etc!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2020 I cycled across the Sahara from Rabat, Morocco to Dakar, Senegal. I wanted to keep going into West Africa, but Covid happened argh!

I'm always interested to learn new languages, and of course I can help anyone who's trying to improve their English
