About Me

I believe there is a purpouse to life. That we only get one life, and has to live it fully out, before it is too late. My pursuit of happiness is, to chase those magical moments, moments after which you have overcome your own fear, exceeded your own comfort zone and grown as a person.
As such, I have fallen deeply in love with travelling when it includes meeting new people. On this earth we only got each other, so creating some memories together is the only thing we can get. Friendships fo not have a pricetag. Rather be young and broke than old with regrets.

Growing up in Norway, I had a very outdoorsy and adventure filled childhood, with skiing, hiking and mountain climbing. Those interests go on with me, as well as a love for nature and culture. New languages are my niche. I love making connections with people, talking about anything from psychology to financial investments. I am now 20 years old, and have started with my studied in Chemistry, because I am really good at it. However, I have choosen a path that is diferrent. Beginning in 2023, I want each day to be filled with memories and new friends. That is what I am going to remember. I am a start up (at the moment) content creator, but with big ambitions. I do not want to picture a picture perfect travel from hotel to hotel life. I want to inspire and teach people what is important in life, how travel and talking to people learns you more than school ever will. I want to show people that amidst all these things that happen around us, there is something universal, something that makes everyone happy, snd that it‘s this you should focus on in your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am couchsurfing because I want to meet new people and make long lasting friends. As mention in „about me“, this is the core of my life and my own philosophy. I pursue this path instead of university, I pursue connections and moments. I purse that which we all know does not have a prive tag.
Price tag. That is something else with couchsurfing. It is for free, but I do not mind that. For me it is about the host and guest - that connection - that brings something new into the ordinary day-to-day life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If there is one thing that I am the most proud of, it is standing byside my beloved girlfriend. Through challenges, through distance, through years. I met her on an exchange to Germany in 2019, and we kept contact over the phone since then. She came from South Africa, so meeting her again was not going to be any time soon. However, 9 months later, on the 29th of February 2020, leap day, I finally saw her again. Whether it was the universe coming together into magic on leap day, I do not know. Zhe only thing I know is that life does not often give such life changing moments. Like leap day coming every fourth year, that day with her was … undescribable. Totally, and fully, life changing. Sparks ignited bit for bit. It was a slow love, but that is what made it so magical. It all happened like in a movie.

The months after that - through Covid - we would spend hours upon hours every day talking to each other, I came visiting 10 months later, in December 2020. Although risking being stuck in South Aftica due to Covid, and hence putting my last year at school at risk, I decided it was worth it. Not seeing her every day made to much of a hole in my heart.

After more than two years seperated, I decided the time had come. I was done with school, and did not want to follow the path all my friends did. Studying in Norway, or in Germany.
My original plan was to go to Oxford to pursue Chemistry. Being one of the top 5 in the country, that seemed like the right path.
But faith eould have it otherwise.
My girlfriend, Nadia, filled me with so much love, so much of something special, something unreplacable. Something that made my life, … and no Oxford degree, however impressing, can do that.

So I started at the same university as her, Stellenbosch University, close to Cape Town.
And it has been a dream ever since. This small little town is a paradise in the south african wine valleys. I have met so many new people and done things that I could not ever dream of back home. Meeting so much new changed my, opened up my perspectives.
We are 8 billion people on this earth, I realized. But until then I have lived in a country where pretty much everybody were similar. Here, everybody was different. That made me so down to earth and tolerant, so relaxed and much more happy. In this rainbow nation - as Nelson Mandela called it - I found the treause at the end. However different and poorer than my origins in Norway, I did never take a look back. I did never questionmy choice, nor regret it. I was constantly happy, because I did that which I feared. I went against the river. And of that, I am filled with pride.

Today I sith with memories like:
Drinking coffe on the highest mountain in South Africa, surfing to sunset in the Atlantic Ocean and diving into the reefs of the Indian Ocean…
Altough, it is those small moments, those coffees in the morning, that really matter.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Guest. A word filled huge gratitude, and respect. When I am a guest, this is what you can excpect. I will value it to the moon and back.
From a personal side, I will bring a lot of joy. My friends describe my as the one who always stand out - which is true. I love talking, but I also love listening and learning.
I have a lot to lett about my life and my choices. The things that I have learned. The places I have seen and the people there. Especially my last year in South Africa has taught me a lot about life. About hard work. And poverty. It has made me even more grateful. Coming from Norway and seeing Africa was quite and experience. Travelling across the globe for my girlfriend as well. Going through my tough times - as we all have done - taught me the most. From that, I want to bring as much love and joy, inspiration and stories, smiles and laughter, as humanly possible.
I really hope you will be my next hose!
For myself, but for you as well. I want to make the time I spend with you stand out, and be memorable.
