ABOUT ME

I recently graduated college with a BA in Studio Arts but the diploma sits in my old room at my parents' house collecting dust. I don't know what I want to do with my life now, but I'm enjoying the drift. It's a good excuse for exploring things unknown! And I'd forgotten the pleasure of whiling an afternoon away reading a book or exploring long-idled interests, like cosmology and baking and fermentation.

A few months ago, I got restless enough in my hometown of Lincoln NE that I decided to pick up and leave. I'm currently WWOOFing around the States, going wherever my curiosity leads me. (Right now, it's Colorado, but in a few days, I'm bouncing to Utah.) Even though it takes some adjustment, to never know where you're going to be in a month, I'm really enjoying this life. I've learned so much and met a lot of awesome people, but there's still a world of stuff to learn. I'm planning to keep doing this until either my money runs out or someplace snags in my brain enough to make me want to stay.

I don't drink or smoke but not because I have anything against them; they're just not for me. I'm a very light traveler. If anything weighs me down, it's usually art supplies.

I love food and I love to experience new places through their foods. When it comes down to it, I would much rather spend my money on excellent meals than I would on nice hotels or hostels; you can't learn much about a city through a hotel room, but through its food? You can see its soul.

I'm generally a very optimistic person. I reflexively smile at people. I don't like being vindictive or critical of others, and I don't really like to gossip. A much better philosophy in life is to give people the benefit of the doubt. (Karma has certainly bitten me in the ass enough times for this lesson to be embedded in the folds of my brain.)
