Overview
About Me
An ecologist and freelance computer programmer living in New York's Hudson Valley. I've done a variety of work in my life including teaching, forestry, lake ecology, farming, programming environmental sensors, web and mobile app development. I'm generally interested in doing anything that will allow me to learn a practical skill. My partner and I recently bought an old house, so lately I've been spending my time learning about building, carpentry, and wood working.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I cycled across the U.S. and stayed with several people through WarmShowers.org. These were the most enjoyable, interesting, and rewarding parts of my travel. It really made me appreciate the generosity of people and i would love to be able to return some of that generosity to others.
Interests
Anything that gets me outdoors and away from the computer screen. Hiking, biking, swimming, foraging, gardening, hunting, fishing, and any combination of friends, food, and drink. I also have a fondness for picking up bugs and bones and dead things and making them look pretty.
