About Me
Everyone calls me Finn
I love travelling and sharing ideas and experiences. I believe life is all about challenging your perspectives and learning about different cultures. To me there are no strong truths in this world just ideas and opinions.Challenging my pre conceptions and learning different theories about life the universe and everything is an important part of traveling for me.
If you come and stay with me you should know I'm renovating my home in Laois, so be warned its derelict or "Rustic"
Work wise im all about Architecture.
I run a small architectural firm from my laptop in my spare time. Day to day I work in a variety of fields, such as Engineer, Carpenter, Architect, Designer depending on my location and the work available.
I like to think i'm open minded and if you listen to Duncan Trussel or Dan Harmon well get on like a house on fire.
I recently moved from Canada, via Hungary, to New Zealand with my partner Julia and am excited for the next adventure :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm couch surfing to meet new interesting people and get different perspectives on life. It seems the older we get the less open we are to meeting people and less likely to break out of our comfort zone to expand our social circles. Instead we spend our time absorbed in our phones (like I am now). The people on chouchsurfing seem to be the most interesting, outgoing and exceptional people you can meet out there.
I also go on disorganised adventures across continents quite regularly and having a friendly place to stay is always good.
The last two were Europe and South East Asia, then Canada. This time its New Zealand. Next maybe India? Africa? The Middle East? Maybe Asia again.... its a big continent after all
Interests
Im interested in anything creative or outdoorsy/active. I was an avid gamer for a while but my studies got in the way. I still enjoy any kind of imaginative immersion though.

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste would be Drum and Bass, Rock, Ska, Electro swing and pretty much anything else as well.
Movies would be any comedy or cult classic, like Cabin in the woods, Tucker and dale versus evil, Fight club, The usual suspects, True romance, Bird man, WALL-E, Studio Ghibli productions, Jay and Silent Bob strike back and Supper troopers.
Books would include House of leaves, The art of war, The Ta'in (Irish classic) and Terry Pratchett novels. At the moment I'm reading Infinite Jest so that should keep me busy for a couple of years.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Chaired the Irish Red Cross CBHFA program for four years. Organising and aiding in numerous Health, Hygiene, safety and community groups and programs.
Teach, Learn, Share
The titanic was going at 23 knots when it crashed and there are 15 species of hedgehogs.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The crack and the banter, Good stories and bad jokes, I'm also good with my hands and lifting things so any work that needs to be done I can always lend a hand :) I'm a hit and miss cook so if your willing to try it I'm willing to give it a shot.
