I am a retired teacher. I enjoy helping families that have someone on the autism spectrum. I have a gift for autism and written a book," Help! My Child Has Autism" by Paul Batchelor. I enjoy traveling and getting to know different cultures, gardening, researching the mysteries of our world, and helping to make the world a better place.
Interested in Traveling
Fluent in English
Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I love to travel and meet people of different cultures so I can better understand the world I live in. I am a retired teacher so obviously my income does not afford me the opportunity to do much traveling. A home would provide the cultural opportunity I am seeking.
Music, Movies, and Books
American rock ( especially the 80's), country, and jazz. I enjoy all kinds of movies. Some of my favorites are Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Avatar, Mission Impossible, Alien, Matrix, Cool Hand Luke, Bridge on the River Kwai, African Queen
One Amazing Thing I've Done
I changed the lives of 7 families and their child on the autism spectrum. They were all locked down at school and some at home. They were non-verbal and violent and considered severely intellectually disabled. I discovered they were very intelligent and helped them to enjoy a more normal life. Three became verbal. Mark Twain said, The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. " I've experienced both.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach others about life in the Southern United States, the American educational system, and autism, and my hope and dreams as an American. I'd love to learn more about the lives of people from other cultures; their hopes and dreams.
What I Can Share With Hosts
The information I listed in Teach, Learn, Share. I could purchase and cook some favorite American meals. The host will also be welcome to my home for a visit.
