About Me

I’m a languages and drama teacher from Poland who has lived most of his life in the north of Germany. You can have a good laugh with me (if you’re witty) and you might want to take advantage of the various experiences I've made all over the world.
I also used to live in Lancaster, England. Strangely, although I've spent much more time in Germany, I'm under the impression I know the UK much better than any other place on this planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Apart from exchanging experiences with people - and of course meeting them - I would like to spend my dough by cooking a nice 5-star meal to my hosts rather than throwing my cash away for shabby hostels. By now, this world is far too much about wasting and chucking away, unfortunately.

Interests

Playing chess, doing sports such as swimming playing table tennis or basketball. I used to be a professional handball player once , in my youth, about 86 years ago. Love a good bowling session or going to the movies, as well.
Also trying to find out why the heck you people come to see Germany... of all places 😉!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the progressive rock genre: Opeth and Porcupine Tree are my favorite bands, however, I’m open to all sorts of music. Filmwise I am into sci-fi and special effects (Star Wars, Lord of the rings, Inception, The Matrix n stuff). But I‘d also go for a hilarious laugh such as in Dumb and Dumber, Ted, The Life of Brian etc. Robin Williams is awesome as a stand-up comedian too.
And on books? Well... as I said, I'm a teacher so there must be some affection for literature: In case you haven't got the faintest notion what to read during your next vacation, go for Ken Follett's "The third Twin" (if Genetic Engineering in a technological generation might be of interest to you) or check out his masterpiece "PILLARS of the EARTH" (a historic novel opening A WHOLE NEW WORLD 🌎 to me) which has been my favorite book since 2002. This work pushed away Noah Gordon's "The Physician" from pole position (which used to me my adolescence love before the turn of the millennium and which is well worth being read, too!).
If you wanna go classic rather than bestseller, I'd recommend F.M. Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment", a really well-composed detective story set in old Russia. And then there's Emile Zola (for artful ways of dying) and David Baldacci (for modern good-fun tension and thrillers) etc. etc. I could go on like that for ages. Just ask me in person 😇

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping on the sandy beach by the ocean in La Rochelle (France) was marvellous. Ok, I ended up under a bridge that night for numerous reasons (the reasons NOT being rain or snow) but that's a different story.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you some insights into handball, table-tennis or tasty cooking and I can share with you which rule in traffic is the most important one to me in order to avoid accidents while driving a car.
Nevertheless, I'm always happy to learn from you people, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughing, music , stories, fantastic German food, selected European wine bottles and sooooooo much wisdom (depending on how many drinks I've had before). Apart from that, if you ever come round to see MY couch, I can share a clean, large apartment with you including a decent shower and enough space for 2 guests.
