About Me

Hello everyone !
My name is Paul Lafforgue, I just turned 22 years old last month and I've been seriously travelling since 2016

I'm an open-minded, chill and good vibes person. I've worked a lot to become the person I am right now and the quote " If you want, you can" is resume of my life philosophy. I presume you can do whatever you want in life if you put all the tools by your side to face life problems.

MY PASSION :

1) Travelling : Since my trip to Taiwan, I wanted to travel as much as I can so I went to 28 countries so far and I set a goal to travel to a different country every year ( because I'm 22yo).
My biggest trip was 1 month backpack in Brasil and Mexico where I was hosted by my friends from Taiwan who live in Brasil and Mexico.
My most intense travel was in Puerto Rico last year during 1 week, I lived like a local and used for the 1st time CS. I hitchhiked for the first time, I didn't plan anything in this trip and it was pretty intense because I'm more like a planning guy. So every time I travel, I want to be with a non-organized person so I can get out of my comfort zone.

2) Surfing : I have the chance to have an apartment near the Atlantic Ocean in France so I used to surf for 7 years. I fell in love with this sport because it's very complete. You have the mind power where you survive to the waves and you have to face the ocean force. Aswell, you have the physical pillar where you can be in shape only by surfing. Everytime I'm travelling to a country near the ocean, I want to go surfing haha.

3) Play the guitar : I have been playing the guitar for 10 years and I love it too. It focuses and relax me. I like to learn new songs everytime. So far, I can play the electric guitar, the classic guitar and the ukulele.
I like to play with friends and sing all together with a campfire nearby.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS because I want to learn other stories and be influenced by them for my future travels. I like to have new friends all around the world so I can experience new things everytime.
I like spontaneous moments, when we don't know what's going next and when we share good moments and good vibes.

My favourite movie is " Chasing Mavericks" : it's a story about a young boy who work as hard as he can to surf the biggest wave on the planet at the age of 17 through difficult times in his life.

Otherwise I don't like that much watching movies nowadays, I prefer TV Shows like Suits, Breaking Bad, The Office, Black Mirror, Ozark, Peaky Blinders...

BOOKS :

I don't really read a lot of books but I like to ready books based on true story or psychological and science of decision books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I had the chance to go to Taiwan at the age of sixteen as an exchange student for Rotary France. My role was to represent France in all its aspects and to transmit my culture to the host country as well as to other exchange students from all over the world. The goal of these exchanges is to develop leadership and learn more about the world around us. I lived on this island for 10 months in four different Taiwanese host families and I had to adapt myself at any time.

In addition, I lived in Nantou City, in the heart of Taiwan, where I was the only foreigner in the city. This trip changed me a lot because I was able to discover a new culture, new traditions, new people and I was able again to completely get out of my comfort zone. On the spot, I participated in several conferences, I helped schools in difficulty, I explained my origins to Taiwanese people living in precarious conditions and I was able to develop an important network in Asia through my meetings, my teachers and my host families.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you chinese well the basis that I remember from Taiwan or I can teach you how to play the guitar if you have one at home.

I can share my travel stories or make french dishes .

I want to share nice and chill moments so we can learn from each others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the french culture, french food and share travel stories
