About Me

I have roamed the globe recently and don't plan on stopping. I enjoy experiences of all kinds and hope to chase every opportunity that comes my way while connecting to those around me and making humanity a kinder species.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm adventurous like everyone else on this website and I want to get off the beaten path, do crazy things, and compile stories. Finding companionship on the road is key to meaningful travel.

Interests

I like doing things I've never done before and going places I haven't seen. I enjoy unique food and quality people, and I spend a lot of time writing, thinking, working out, and sailing. When I'm alone I like to run, read, or catch up on sleep. I savor encounters with nature in any form.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music...what a huge topic. I'm a sucker for a soft violin/piano song, and I enjoy movie theme songs. I like depressing, haunting music best of all, but I also like rock, pop, Irish, American folk, bluegrass, and country. Any music is valuable if it lifts you above mundane everyday life and reminds you that life is beautiful. Let's jump in a mosh pit...or soar with Two Steps from Hell

Black Mirror, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, film noir, anything with Jimmie Stewart, Clint Eastwood, or cowboy hats.

I used to read a lot and wish I still did. Historical fiction, true histories, military books, the Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins, and the Airborne trilogy by Kenneth Oppel make up the best part of my library.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ate vegan for three days and loved it (but I still like bacon better).

I survived the first year "Ratline" experience at Virginia Military Institute and won a patch from my Master Segeant for being loud and intense.

I walked alone across Iceland.

I hitchhiked from the top of France to the bottom of Spain with one lift.

I didn't vote for Donald Trump.

I lost a shoe at a rock festival.
